After reading that the Wynn has a different check-in window for suites, I decided not to try the $20 check and instead simply asked if there were any upgrades available (without offering up money). The reservation agent told me she had a great room on the 58th floor with a wonderful view. It did and I didn't pay a dime... but as nice a view as it was, I wouldn't have wanted to pay for it. There was nothing special involved in the request and it was during a busy weekend so it never hurts to ask.

Waited in line which seemed like forever, walked up to a young male Clerk. Slipped the $20 under the license/CC and told him it was my girlfriend's bday and was hoping for an upgrade to the tower suites. He tucked in the 20 quickly into his pocket and said I'll find you something good.

Showed me an upgrade to the tower suites, free of charge! A nice tower suites key, with a private entrance, instant line passes to the buffet. Over $100 more per night! Well worth the $20.

Checked in on a busy Sunday around noon. After waiting in line for about 35 mins, I was greeted by a very professional young man. When he asked for my ID I handed him the sandwich and said: "We have a basic room, I was wondering if there were any complimentary upgrades available?" He saw the top of the $20 sticking out and immediately put it in his front jacket pocket while saying: "I'll see what I can do for you". Since it was early in the day, there we were limited on our options w/ people still checking out. Initially, he gave us a room on the 21st floor w/ a panaramic view of the golf course, but as he was finishing up w/ us he said that a better room became available and gave us a panaramic view room on the 39th floor in the corner. Very nice accomodations here, and for $129/night it's by far the best stay I've ever had in Vegas -- I've stayed at several hotels on the strip in the past. My future trips to Vegas will definitely include a stay at the Wynn... regardless of upgrade potential. As a side note, the panaramic rooms are very spacious and have a 32" plasma and a 20" LCD TV in the bathroom. If you're a poker player you can call downstairs and get your name on the list and monitor your status from your room on the television.

I told my brother about your site,he said you do it first then,I'll see.only problem is he got in before us. He was on the 18 floor over looking the parking garage.we were looking at the lights of the strip.Remember Wynn,s windows go from cilling to floor. thanks

We were checking into a $139 casino rate resort room at 9:15 AM on a busy holiday morning. Handed the clerk the $20 with the cc and license and asked if there were any complementary upgrades. She thanked us and pocketed the $20. She asked if a top floor room that overlooked the strip was OK since that's what was available at that time. Of course we said yes. Being on the top floor was amusing. Every single time in the elevator, folks either asked how the view was or looked us over like we might be someone. Great hotel.

The hotel looked fairly busy, and according to their website all the standard resort rooms were already fully booked... we were standing in line, basically waiting for the first of 3 clerks. We had two reservations and decided to check in together. Once the clerk had our credit cards and ids, I asked him to see if he could upgrade us to anything "nicer" or "bigger". Told him that one of us had already been here before, while the other was to have his first Wynn experience. He typed and typed and initially said that there were no other rooms that were non-smoking and on the same floor. I asked him to double check, and he was nice enough to do so. After a couple of minutes he found us 2 rooms about 5 doors apart on the 56th floor of the hotel! They were panoramic view rooms that were going for $599/night!...

Had a casino rate ($139) reservation for 3 nights. Was afraid this guy was a manager, but handed him the $20 sandwich anyway. He actually seemed a bit surprised, and started to hand the money back, then seemed to realize what I was doing and set it on the desk while he looked for an upgrade. Chatted a bit, let him know the wife and I were here for anniversary trip; he offered me the upgrade ("normally an additional $50 a night") and said he was sure we'd be pleased. I agreed, and he pocketed the tip, shook my hand, and thanked me for "my generosity." Wife loved the room, worked out great!

sandwiched the 50 between cc and id proceeded to hand to clerk and she saw the 50 and gave it back. she assumed that I had put it there by accident..right.. anyhow. i asked if there were any suites available and she said sorry but it's a very busy weekend and they are all booked. she did offer a panaramic view at no charge. I still offered the 50 for her help.
on Monday I went to the tower suites front desk and got upgraded to a salone suite (upsell) for an additional 300/nt. beautiful room. well spent imo
