Our rate was $159, two night stay sun-tues. We checked in on sunday at about noon. The place was packed and we didn't have a choice of what clerk to line up for. There were people directing guests to each clerk. We got upgraded to the 38th floor (I assume we could have gotten a higher floor but we requested nonsmoking.) View on the strip side was fantastic - sunsets, mountain views, it was absolutely gorgeous and worth the $20 extra. Rooms was fabulous, service was great, we got $100 free slot credit which we ended up turning into cash. Pool was endless and beautiful. Then we sat at the tables and ended up earning two buffet comps. Buffet was mint. Definitely will stay at the Wynn again.

Got in Thursday at about 10pm. The one younger guy who looked like he’d play ball was in the “invited guest” section so I had to take my chances with the older Asian woman. The $20 fell on the keyboard and she immediately said “do you need change” to which I responded “I hope not. Do you have any upgrades available?” She typed and said she could give us a panoramic room on the 37th floor. Now, I made the rez on Orbitz and it was a good rate so I was not expecting much but I said “isn’t that the room I would get anyway?” I was ready to take the $20 back when she said “so you want something better?” and I was thinking “f yeah” but said “yes, do you have anything on a higher floor with a strip view” and she said yes she had a room on the top floor (60) facing the strip on the corner of the hotel (so we had 2 windows). The only thing was that it was smoking optional and I HATE cigarette smoke. But we went up there and it was odorless. Overall it was worth the $20 as we were there for 5 nights – so $4 a day was very fair. I would also say that tipping the pool staff goes a long way – if you want a good spot go down there when you get up and give someone a $10 or $20 to reserve some chairs for you. Then you can go back down around 1pm and they’ll be waiting.

Slipped the clerk the 50 after asking for a complimentary upgrade, got a choice of rooms including the 60th floor, took one on the 34th as was non-smoking, well worth the outlay as we were staying for a week. The guy seemed to know the score and didn't seem that inclined to take the money, would probably have done it without the tip.

I was a litle bit stressed out and when the clerk asked me for my credit card I couldn't find the 20$ bill I had prepared in my pocket ! Eventually I did find it. The clerk took it, put it on the desk and offered us a room on the 48th floor. Nice bonus : it was a corner room i.e. 2 large windows :) I told the story to all my friends when I came back in Paris :)

Well, it wasn't even close. I handed the front desk clerk my ID and my license with the sandwiched $20 bill clear for her to see. I asked about any complimentary room upgrades, she looked down, saw the $20 bill and handed it right back to me and shook her head. I do not believe this $20 tip trick will work at the Wynn hotel.

Got upgraded to 58th floor (highest non-smoking floor) with strip-view. View is absolutely gorgeous (if not for Palazzo blocking half of it). Excellent service. Will definitely go back (or to Encore).

Not a whole lot to add. It worked. Great panoramic room on the 54th floor. My fiance and I went out for our wedding, it definitely added to the whole event. Beautiful view.

No Dice For Robert at Wynn...

For those who say tipping is illegal. i.e. Joe. It isn't. Not under state law and not under federal law. Bribery is defined as "offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official or other person in discharge of a public or legal duty." Last time I checked, this doesn't include front desk employees at hotels. Can the front desk people lose their job? Yes. But it is their risk, and their risk alone. Please think before talking about subjects you know nothing about. And yes, I am a lawyer.

We arrived late at the Wynn around 12. I placed the folded $20 between my CC and my ID. The clerk took everything and set the $20 on top of his keyboard and ask me if there was anything extra he could do for me, I said the standard "I was wondering if I could get a complementary upgrade" he said let me see what I can do and bam, got the room upgrade.

This is our first try with the $20 tip. We booked a resort room using the casino rate ($179/night w/ $100 free credit) for the weekend. Checked in around 6pm. Got directed to a male clerk who was quite friendly. Did the $20 between the CC and ID, and asked for a complimentary upgrade. He made a quick phone call, and got us the panoramic view room at 57th floor. The view was awesome! We're very happy with the result! (Note: In reality, it's only 47th floor, because Wynn doesn't have 40th-49th floor.)
