Jackpot! Ken` Got A Wynn Room Upgrade

Got a comped three-night stay at the Wynn, which we've had a couple of times before. Each time was on the eats side of the hotel facing the golf course and convention center. Slipped the $20 and asked for the complimentary upgrade, requesting a strip view. Got it, no problem, though a strip view at the Wynn isn't all that exciting due to its location, and next time I might just request an upgrade and see what I get. Worth the $20, though.

Nicole - It's unfortunate that you would even have to post this. It's common sense. Even if the guy claims to have praised your customer service, what I think he's not understanding is that once the reservation is opened by the manager, it opens the door for questioning of the front desk even if the problem is not related to a check-in issue. . . it's like flagging down a cop to ask for directions while you're buddy's smoking weed in the passenger's seat next to you . . . I'm going to Encore or Wynn in two weeks. . . If I see you, i promise not to screw it up. . .

I believe I was the guest that involved a senior manager that led to your unfortunate rant.
However, as unacceptable as you claim my actions to be... your anger found in those comments (along with the multiple misspellings), albeit because of extreme frustration, are unnecessary and rude.
It's unfortunate that you got into trouble. However you must recognize that the reason you got into trouble was not because of taking a "bribe", but by a minor blunder made at registration. I defended your role in the matter, and actually complimented your professionalism to your supervisory staff. Also, I did not mention the $20.
However, I couldn't ignore how the inadvertence made at check-in led to a headache of other issues. This, along with a dirty room, unhelpful housekeeping supervisor, and unaccomadating hotel operator, led me to conclude that something needed to be said to a supervising manager.
On a positive note, you definitely do not look 31 :)

Put the $20 in between per instructions. As I handed the guy the sandwich I asked him if he could do something nice for me. I only had one room but my dad was standing behind me in line and he had two rooms. We split them up so we could have two shots at the $20 trick in case we got hosed. Anyway, this guy was great. It was a Hotwire rate but got me on the 55th floor, strip view. After I realized he was cool I called my Dad over, had him put his $20 away, and got this guy to get his rooms on the 55th floor also.

55th floor is the highest non-smoking floor. Also, keep in mind, at least on this floor... all the strip views are king size beds and two queens means golf course view (which is really just as nice). Either way, you can't go wrong... great hotel, and great service.

Stood in line for a while, got pick up by a young female around 27, and she noticed my 20 dollars between my DL and CC, didn't say a word. She put it on the top of her keyboard. I asked if there is any upgrade, she said she needs to check. After checking the system and made a phone call, I got upgrade to the same standard room, but higher floor over seeing the golf course. It definitely works, but I don't know if i will be able to get the same thing without the 20. It's vegas, suppose to blow your money away right ? lol

Booked a discounted rate from an offer the hotel sent me. Got to the front desk, did the routine, and she said she would see what she could do. After a few minutes she said the best she could do was 21st floor with a strip view. I was a little disappointed but at beggars can’t be choosers so I said OK. She printed out the room keys and when she handed them to me said that she was sorry but she in the end couldn’t do the 21st floor so got me something a little better: 51. :)

I checked in on Saturday afternoon. I got a rate of $130 a night for the Wynn Resort room from Priceline. This was UFC/Superbowl weekend so they were busy. I stood in line for the only guy at the front desk. I put a $20 bill, he took my cards and dropped the $20 on his keyboard. He did not say anything. In the middle, we just made small talk and he whispered saying that he would upgrade me to Encore Suite with a nice view. Everything went perfect. The next day, I went with a friend, to check it for our 2nd and 3rd night. Tipped him another $30 this time and he did the same for us for another 2 nights under my friends name which was already casino comped.

Had 2 rooms booked on a dirt cheap Hotwire rate for three nights each. When I arrived at checkin in the early evening, I inquired about the Encore tower. She said everything was booked solid over there but could offer me the 59th floor of the Wynn tower. She handed me back my $50 and apologized she couldn't do better. I asked if I could be moved to a nicer room the next day and she told me to wait a few minutes. Ten minutes later (and 5 phone calls by her), she got us two rooms in the tower suites section of the hotel for all three nights! I gladly gave her the $50 back and thanked her.

I bought the room on Hotwire at a highly discounted rate so I wasn't expecting much. I handed the clerk the folded $20 with my cards and asked specifically for a complimentary upgrade to Encore. He said, "OK, I'd be glad to take a look at that for you" and left the $20 in front of the keyboard. He offered an Encore suite and even gave us the choice of a higher floor.

This may be an excellent way of getting to Encore without paying the premium price. He acted like it was no problem.

Gave the clerk the sandwich with a 20$ Bill. First she asked if I would need change. I asked her for any upgrades and asked for a room with Strip view on a higher floor. It was no problem for her and she was very friendly and helpfull. Got the upgrade without extra costs.

My 2nd stay at Wynn. THE BEST hotel IN VEGAS!
