Upgraded to a Suite with flat screen TV, dining table, leather couch, bar, and oval tub.
Got the view of the strip and 4th of July fireworks show (though I was at their 4th of July party at the time of ths show, so I didn’t use the view from the room), and in-room spa bath. Not as nice as the upgrade I got the previous time, when I got one of their newly remodeled rooms in the north tower.
Mentioned that I get an upgrade with my Hhonors Gold Memembership and could something beyond that be available. The hotel also sent up a very nice gift basket with their compliments.
Clerk said he couldn’t upgrade because management was cracking down and he would get busted. Took the 20 dollars and no upgrade. Told him it was my 30th B-Day and he confirmed it was and still didn’t do it. What a dick! He did say if we would have checked in later we might have had a chance.
I checked in at the VIP line (like I usually do at that hotel.) I placed a folded $20 bill behind my drivers license. I got a big “thank you!” when I handed it to the clerk. I then asked if there were any free room upgrades available. She said she’d check. After doing some searching, she got me the upgrade list above. She said that this upgrade was usually reserved for “gold” card (Hilton HHonors) holders. I only have a silver card.
Went in on a busy weekend. I called the hotel earilier and found out its totally sold out but still decided to give a try. I asked if there’s any complimentary upgrade with the $20 sandwich in between my HHonor card & my CC. She saw it and immediately asked me which view do I like and high/low floors etc. I got the new renovated north tower room which I heard the FD next to me was trying to sell it to this guy for $50! save me $30 bucks at least!
I folded a $20 and placed in between my id and card as suggested. I asked the lady nicely if there were any rooms available. She did not notice the $20 and quickly said we can upgrade you to the 14th floor.
I asked again if there was anything else. She mentioned to me about the panaromic view room with plasma tv and refridgerator for an extra $50 a night.
I sadly agreed. She started processing the room change and finally noticed the money and was like, “oh I didn’t see this.” I asked her again if that was the best she can do and she said sorry yes.
When I got back home, I found out no $ was charged to my card. SCORE!
I asked if I could get an upgrade and put $20 out. The front desk guy went back into another room and I don’t know exactly what he did but when he came back he put me in one of the new north tower rooms with the flat screen tv. I didn’t know if this was an upgrade or not since it’s not a suite, even though it was a new room. I ended up taking the $20 back, as I wasn’t sure if this constituted an upgrade or not. I honestly wasn’t sure if I should have given it to him or not. Anyway, I went up and checked out the room. It was nice and I felt kind of bad so I went back down and gave him $10. For all I know I would have gotten the same room without dangling the $20 out there. I was not anticipating the situation happening the way it did.
Husband gave the clerk our Hilton Honors # written on a piece of paper (we don’t have our card yet – was able to upgrade to Gold status using code on HHonors thread), ID, and credit card. $20 was between the id and credit card. She asked if we were diamond and we said gold. At about the time we responded with Gold she said “Ohhh”. She had just seen the $20. At that point my husband asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. She started typing and said she had a premium suite and showed us a picture. We said that would be great. However, I will say it isn’t really a suite more of just a really nice room. The bed was fantastic and flat tv was great.
Had great front view and the room was VERY nice, pillows were very flat though. Plus got a $25 players match too.
