Jackpot! Larry Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

Checked in early Saturday morning, not crowded at all. Slipped the sandwich, asked for a complimentary upgrade as it was my girlfriend's birthday. Woman seemed very excited and eager to help out after the sandwich. We asked initially for a Venezia suite but were told that they couldn't access the other tower anymore (new policy?). Did manage to get us a good Bella overlooking the pools. Could see TI, Wynn, Encore, Circus Circus, etc. Works every time I try it!

Jackpot! CP Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

This worked at the Palazzo!! I gave her the 'sandwich', she tried to hand it back to me (acted like she was surprised), and that's when I asked for the 'complimentary room upgrade'. She said she can definitely do it and offered a higher floor with a strip view (which is $50 more per night). Total savings 150-20 = 130!!!

Jackpot! Eric Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

I slipped him the $20 license and credit card sandwich and asked what upgrades they had available. I also explained that it was our 10 year anniversary, which it was, and he said let me see what I can do. He later leaned forward and whispered "that is my supervisor right next to me otherwise I would have upgraded you to one of our rialto suites!" He still put us up on a much higher floor in an incredible suite! He also gave us a $15 slot play coupon (im sure everyone gets these anyway). overall I feel it was worth our $20 tip. :)

Booked on Priceline. Sandwiched the $20. Put us on a strip view high floor (a $45/night value he says). Also gave us a ton of excellent coupons - $25 match play, $20 food credit, free dessert at Grand Lux Cafe, etc. All in all, excellent use of $20

Jackpot! TW Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

Ok this worked so well I cant wait to do it agian. I did the sandwich upon check in asking if I could get an upgrade. Male Clerk took the DL CC and 20 bucks. I really did not see what he did with the 20 he was very fast. He told me YES I will forsure upgrade you. He told me that I had been pre-booked into a 4th floor basic suite no view. Then he told me i will get you on the 31st floor with the best view in the hotel and a fully redone suite. Once we got to our room we were blown away at the view of the strip, the flat panal tv's even a tv in the bathroom. Also the curtains were remote controlled, very cool. I have stayed at the Venetian several times before and love the rooms but this was by far the best room I have ever stayed in. 20 trick was WAY WORTH IT!!!!! Thanks to this website I now know the secert.

No Dice For Aggie07 at Venetian...

Walked up to the counter, handed her the sandwhich, she asked if I needed change, I told her no, that I had some requests when I made the reservation and if she could get those it would be for her, she then said she had rooms that we could pay to upgrade but to give her a second to check the reservation, she said she saw where I requested a strip view and started typing, she said nothing was available and handed the $20 back.

Jackpot! John Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

This was at The Palazzo...we arrived around midnight. We were the only people checking in so I looked for the youngest woman and approached with the 20 between credit card and drivers licence.I asked if there was any upgrades available at least to a higher floor.she made the 20 disappear rather quickly and we got a beauty room on the 44th floor overlooking the strip.Get a Club Grazie(players card)and use it!!! We are not big gamblers but it took care of about a 150.00 in food...Phantom of Opera tickets....a limo to the airport. We got to the airport and our flight was cancelled so I called back to Palazzo and they gave a room for the night no charge.Great place!!

Jackpot! Rampage Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

Put the $20 under the ledge behind the counter after asking him if he has any upgrades. He said I didn't need to give him a tip. He tried to give a good upgrade but had difficulty, so he had to ask the manager to come over and move people around. I had two other friends staying in different rooms and they both did the same thing and we ended up with the same Rialto accommodations!

Jackpot! Larry Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

Checked in at the end of the CES/start of AEE weekend at 9AM (nice and early) for a two-night stay. Short to no line, very relaxed (relatively speaking). Cited anniverary and handed over a fifty in between the CC and DL. Clerk seemed surprised, asked if we needed change. I said "it's for you if you can help us out" with any upgrades. Specifically mentioned Rialto since I'm a fan of lots of floorspace. She went back for a few minutes, brought out another person (possibly a manager) who told us Rialtos were all booked up for the first night, but they set us up with a 23rd-floor Bella suite with a fantastic view of the pools, TI, and Mirage. The next night they gave us a choice of staying or going to the Rialto we wanted. We took the Rialto, and didn't regret it, although the view in the first room could not be beaten. In short, the tip is tremendous, given the right clerk and time of year: we got two fantastic rooms out of a cheap Priceline reservation. Will try every time I'm in town.

Jackpot! Kathy Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

I'm not sure if the "upgraded" suite with the view was worth an extra $20 ($10 a night since we stayed there 2 nights), but it was nice that the trick worked and that the clerk didn't embarrass me by giving my money back.

No Dice For Gordie at Venetian...

I tried a $40 trick at Venetian over New Year's Eve (first mistake I guess...) to try and get one of the larger suites (I forget what they're called but I knew at the time I asked). They guy checked and then said he didn't have any but we had been pre-blocked into a Strip-view room on a high floor. I was a little unsure what to do at this point. He didn't seem to be waiting for the money, and since it was pre-blocked he really didn't deliver anything to deserve it, so I didn't give him anything.

Turns out we did NOT have a strip-view room. Not sure if it was an honest error or what, but I'm glad I didn't tip him!

Jackpot! SneakyPete Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

Reserved two rooms for four nights each for a conference held at the Venetian and the Sands Expo Center. We were supposed to arrive at 11am but arrived at midnight due to winter weather delay at our home airport. I approached the associate with a smile and friendly greeting. She asked my name, and told me my room type and rate, and if that sounded correct. I said yes, and when she asked for the credit card and ID, I slid my cards across the counter with a $50 bill sticking out from the middle, and said, "Our flight was delayed 13 hours due to an ice storm, and we have been up since 3:30 AM. I was wondering if you had any complimentary room upgrades with generous square footage or exceptional customer service for me and my friend 'Grant'". (Grant is on the face of the $50 bill) She said she'd check and furiously typed on her computer for about 3 minutes, made two phone calls, and after that wasn't satisfactory for her, went to her floor manager with my ID and a one minute explanation. She came back and said she tried to get me the 1,100 or 1,400 sq ft rooms, but they were already booked, so she booked our two rooms in the Venezia Concierge tower with a pool view on the 19th floor. I thanked her profusely and off we went. I think we did well considering there was a conference with 22,000 attendees in town, a boxing match, and a music awards show in town. Plus, it was midnight on a Saturday night, and I had a conference rate with base rooms booked. I will certainly try this again next time!

No Dice For BRD at Venetian...

I probably didn't try this under ideal circumstances, but it didn't work. I arrived at the Venetian at about 11:00 a.m. I was directed to a female check-in agent (no choice), who wasn't particularly friendly to begin with. When I gave her the sandwich, she cut me off as I began my polite request for an upgrade with a very curt "Do you need me to make change for that?" I told her that no, I didn't need change, and quickly jammed the $20 back in my pocket. I politely asked about an upgrade anyway. She didn't say anything, tapped some keys for about 20 seconds, then told me that the hotel was very full and that she couldn't do anything for me. I was extremely polite and pleasant throughout, but she actually seemed pissed that I had even tried the trick, then seemed committed to embarrassing me about the whole thing. One thing that may have played a role -- I don't know -- is that she had agents on either side of her who might well have noticed had she pocketed the $20. Oh, well.

Handed the clerk the CC,20,DL sandwich and asked if I could get a complimentary upgrade. He took the 20 and said, "I think I can help you. Give me a chance to earn the money you gave me." He said he was going back to check something, but then instead, he called someone else and asked if he could get an upgrade for a very nice guest he had.

After typing in a few more things, he gave me a Standard Suite room like I had reserved, but on the 32nd floor (facing the back though). He also gave me a $15 slot credit. So, for a $5 investment I earned a much higher floor than I would likely have had otherwise. The room was enormous anyway, I don't know what I would've needed a bigger one for!

Jackpot! Rick Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

We got in about 3pm. It was busy on a Friday. We went to check in, I had a $20 between my CC & DL. I asked the Lady behind the desk if they had any complementary upgrades, she smiled as she saw the $20 & asked if a 1BR suite with a strip view would be ok. It worked great! We will try it again next trip!
