Jackpot! Vegacino Got A Venetian Room Upgrade

It was a very busy weekend, as there were 2 conventions in town. I handed the clerk the sandwich as most people do and made small talk as she typed on the computer. She mentioned the hotel was at full capacity b/c of the conventions. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available and she offered to look. She checked the Palazzo but could not get me anything. Finally, she offered me a suite in the Venezia tower with a strip view, which I gladly accepted. She then asked if I would be needing change for the $20 and I said it was all hers. My first time doing the sandwich and it worked without a hitch!

She also gave me a free $50 gambling credit, a $50 drink credit at the club in the Palazzo, and 4 free passes to the club as well! The $50 gambling credit alone was more than worth the $20 tip!

I sandwiched a $20 bill between my credit card and drivers license and as described by some folks on this site the front desk clerk made it disappear like a Copperfield illusion. My $20 also got me out of the long regular line and into the Invited Guest line! The clerk also hooked me up with a strip-view room above the 30th floor.

How It Happened: 5 pm on fri. night. Went up and made some small talk and was friendly. Sandwiched the tip b/w the CC & DL, ans handed it over, she quickly put it under the desk and smiled and I asked if there were any complimentary room upgrades available. She said she'd see what she could do. Next thing I know, we're looking at a HUGE bella suite in the private tower. Very awesome. Thanks so much for this thread guys.

Labor Day Sunday... I have always gotten good service in Las Vegas (any decent hotels). And $20 tip for front desk clerk always make a difference... and this time was no different.
I checked in around 9:15am. My plan, like always, was to just chitchat a bit after the tip and eventually ask for upgrades/other things. I handed the sandwich and said "the twenty behind is for you", and she replied with big smile "thank you mr. ____".
I already had Rialto suite booked, so I wasn't sure if there would be any available upgrades, but she bumped us to the one with a view (of pools and strip) and got me bunch of freebies. All this without me even asking for them.

Knowing that the main check in area is sometimes crowded, I went to the Venezia check in desk. I walked right up to the clerk. I handed her my driver's license, credit card and a $20. I asked if she had an complimentary upgrade to a Rialto Suite available. She checked and gave me the room, on the 33rd floor with view of the Strip.

A clerk named Christina. Did the $20 sandwich and asked for complimentary upgrade. She put the $20 note aside and told me that she would return me the $20 but the upgrade I asked for (just a two beds suite) would cost me 40 bucks. Considering I need it, I took the upgrade for the costs she quoted. Found that the room is a parking lot low floor room. will never try that again.

Did not even bother trying the tip with the first front desk clerk, as she was obviously in a sour mood from the point she said hello. This was at the Venezia desk and not normal check in. So we called at about Midnight with compliants about our room (view of parking garage, uncleanly, tv's did not work, one would not even shut off). Clerk offered us a piazza suite (1400 sq ft) for the 6 nights we stayed, and we only paid $100 a night each night. It was amazing.

I did the basic $20 bill sandwich between the CC and the DL. I asked if there were any upgrades available or at least something with a nice view. He replied that there was an upgrade to the 32nd floor that would normally be $45 per night, but he'd take care of that and pocketed the tip.
Got to our room and had a view of the pool and Palazzo and what remains of the strip (behind that nasty condo construction).

$20 tip worked, but there's a cavaet.
Checked in around noon, huge line at the main desk, so we were directed to the Venezia Check-in desk upstairs. Presented ID/credit card/$20 sandwich to Lindsey at Front Desk and asked if there are any complimentary upgrades. She said "Certainly" and pocketed the money right away. Got us a room on a top floor in the main tower with a great Strip view. However, when we got to the room it stank of cigar and marijuana smoke, so went back to the main check-in desk to switch rooms. Dealt with a front desk clerk named Ronald who sort of gave us a hard time for being unsatisfied with the room. When he viewed our reservation in the system to switch our room, he turned to his supervisor and said “A strip view room for that rate??” Supervisor replied “No”, so we thought the jig was up and just lost our $20 upgrade. Turns out the new room had an even better view. We got lucky because it didn’t seem like Ronald or the Supervisor were initially inclined to go along with the upgrade.
Here’s the cavaet: if you’re going to try the $20 sandwich and it turns out the room has problem, try to deal with the original person you bribed, otherwise your $20 might go to waste.

Checked in on Friday early(like 10 AM)there was big line ups, and they sent some of us to the next floor up for check in. I was a bit worried trying it on a Friday, after about 15 minutes wait, it was my turn to check in, i slipped the white male clerk the 20.00, he said he would put us in the newer tower(didnt know they had a newer tower?and a nice view of the strip, we got the 32nd floor if memory serves, and if you look out the window you can see the pools and parrtial strip as well as the tiny pool at Casino Royale.
Not 100 percent sure we would not have got this room anyways, but it was lovely, it has a sunken living room(which i guess all the rooms at Venetian have), and is quite large.

Did the $20 sandwich and asked if any complementary upgrades were available. Once she saw the $20 her face lighted up and said "I'll see what I can do." Upgraded to 23rd floor with a view. Next time, I'll ask for some food credits in addition. What can I lose? I'll be doing this every time. My room on I stayed on a Fri and Sat night, got my room on Priceline for $160.

Main lobby was packed, a woman asked if I wanted to go upstairs to checkin, I said yes. LUCKY! When I got there only one counter person was there. I folded the $20 between my CC and DL, told her I was checking in, asked if they had any upgrades available. She told me that I already had a nice room BUT if I wanted to wait about an hour that she had a king suite with a great view of the strip. She was right! The tip was well worth the view.

Checked in and did the $20 sandwhich. Asked for a non-smoking Rialto (they were listed as sold out on the Venetian website). He told me he didn't have that available but could get me a Bella View suite on a higher floor. I said that would be great. Also asked for and got late checkout. Would definitely try it again.

checked in at 2:30 on Thursday afternoon. All the check in agents were busy at the main desk so we were called over to "Invited check in" desk by a young guy. Handed him the sandwich - he didnt flinch - simply made the twenny disappear and asked hius colleague about superior upper level rooms. Handed us the room keys for a strip view room on the 31st floor of the main tower in a newly renovated gorgeous suite. Best $20 I spent all week. Loved the buzz of trying the trick too. go ahead try it - you wont be dissapointed :D

I was in town with two girlfriends for a soccer tournament and I REALLY did not want to share a bed, especially on Saturday after three games. I slipped the $20 and asked for the two beds. She put us on the 16th floor in a nice, quiet area, the view was just of the pool. But that view was perfect for us because we were able to strategize from the room before fighting for beach chairs. I'm not sure if we would have had two beds anyhow, but I was happy to give the $$ and guarantee it. She also gave us three keys, no questions asked and checked us in early.

No Dice For Maria at Venetian...

Tried the $20 sandwich with a young lady at the front desk. I didn't ask for an upgrade, but instead merely asked for a room that had a somewhat decent view as my boyfriend is a photographer and would like to take some photos. She didn't mention the $20 the entire time and seemed friendly so we were hopeful. We got to the room which was on the 6th floor and at the very end of the hallway to find a view of the parking garage and the back end of the Palazzo. What a waste of money! On top of it all, for being at the end of the hallway, the room was incredibly noisy.
