I sandwiched the $20 between the CC and Drivers License and lyed them on top of my reservation printout. I asked the clerk if there are any free upgrades available and he said he would check. When he took my CC he flicked the $20 under the counter in front of his monitor. We got a great room and it was weel worth the $20.

Check in was pretty busy so I was skeptical but once we started the check in process I asked if they had any free upgrades and he asked us what we were looking for and I just told him anything you got would be great. My boyfriend put a 20 on the counter and the clerk just let it sit there. He gave us a room on the 31st floor with an awesome strip view he said it would have been an extra 40 a night but he was going to wave it for us. He finished the check in and took the 20. The room was really great for an extra 20. We could see the Mirage Volcano erupt and see the Bellagio Fountains right from our window. We also got 2 free tickets to there Cirque De Soleil show Mystere for booking right on the Treasure Island Website and our room was only 69 a night anyway so the extra 20 was completely worth it.

Lobby was packed and had to go to first available clerk. Slipped a $20.00 bill between my drivers license and credit card and asked if there were any upgrades available. She smiled and said she could move us up to the penthouse floor, corner room with two views of the strip and private elevator. She seemed very grateful and thanked me a couple of times.

My wife and I were on vacation / road trip and planned to stop in Las Vegas for one night to possibly catch a show of some kind. I booked my reservation about a month in advance and got a very good rate on a deluxe room.

The night before we went to Las Vegas, I stumbled across this website and decided to give the $20 sandwich technique a try. We arrived at the hotel around 6:00. There were a couple of people waiting in line to check in, but I was only there a couple minutes before it was my turn. A young desk clerk walked up to the desk and asked if she could help me. I told her I had a reservation and gave her my name.

I handed her my "sandwich." She looked at the ID and handed it back to me. She put the credit card on the keyboard and pocketed the $20 as I asked about the possibility of a complimentary upgrade. She said she was already working on it for me.

She handed me the room keys and said that I would probably be very impressed with the room. She was right. We were upgraded to an executive suite room with a wonderful view of the strip.

This was my wife's first time to Las Vegas, so now every trip will probably be measured against our stay at Treasure Island.

We got in late on Friday nite, and the counter was pretty empty, handed the credit card over with the $20 bill folded up underneath, she got a huge smile on her face, typed a few keystrokes, and had us in the Executive suite in no time! GORGEOUS room! I'm going back next month and doing it again!

Upon checking in, was a little nervous that the Manager who was hovering around would be at the counter when I was there. As LUCK would have it, I get called up and he is standing right beside the clerk trying to look important. Get the deluxe(regular) room as purchased on the 7th floor with Mall/parking lot views. As soon as the mgr type is turned away I slide the sammy to clerk, and voila!, a strip view on the 21st is available for that night. She then tells me that the next day we can move in to the 35th floor if we like. 3pm next day, moved to the top. BEST view of strip we have ever had. Next time it will be $50!

Asked if there were any upgrades available, took up a couple of minutes, then she said yes. Not sure if she saw the $20 or not, but she seemed surprised when I gave it to her. We had an elevator where you had to put in your room key to get to your floor. Our room had a view of the Fashion Show Mall and the Stratosphere one side and the Palazzo and the Venetian the other. Definitely worth the $20!

Arrived around 11 and there was no line. Fumbled with the $20 sandwich for a minute, since I was expecting to have a few minutes to build it. "Do you have any complimentary upgrades available? It's our wedding anniversary." The clerk gave us the choice of a middle floor with a king sized bed and strip view, or the "penthouse" floor with two queen beds and ship view. Because of Justin's note below, we took the top floor, and like him, we got the fireworks exploding straight outside our window. The clerk also offered to send up a complimentary bottle of champagne, which we accepted on our final morning. Quite a deal!

No Dice For RocketChicken at Treasure Island...

Waited to check in, we could have got a young girl, a young guy, or a senior gentleman well into his 60's.

I think older staff are there for the benefits, and probably less likely to risk getting fired. We popped the 50 in one of our Canadian passports like a bookmark and handed it over with our credit card. He kept the money in the passport, entered the data, and handed it back. He said "I've given you a strip room" but a strip room was what we paid for in the first place so we just politely thanked him, dumped our bags, and shortly thereafter gave the hotel thousands of dollars at the Craps table. And we didn't even get BREAKFAST!

Thanks for nothing, jackasses!

Worked like a charm! Checked in Sunday night around 7pm and no one in line. Went to the young female clerk. Was staying for 4 nights. Politely asked for any complimentary upgrades available. Gave me 36th floor/penthouse floor with the separate elevator and amazing view of strip - Mirage volcano especially. Was a corner room so also had excellent view of mountains/Palms Resort area as well.

Jackpot! Justin A Got A Treasure Island Room Upgrade

Checked in at about 1:30 pm on a tuesday afternoon, it was slow, only 2 people in line in front of us,
i never actually had stayed here before, i got it by accident on Hotwire, thinking it would be Planet Hollywood, but thats another story.
I figured i would slip the clerk a 20 as i always do when i got to vegas, which generally gets you a room worth much more than what you pay for.
We were staying there a week so i was a bit worried it would be more noticeable giving up a fancy suite or whatever for a mere 20 bucks, at first she offered me a strip view on a middle kind of floor, such as the 15th(she claimed was worth 20 or 40 a night more) , i wanted something fancier like a bigger room, with a higher value as i have gotten before , so i mentioned my main priority was a bigger, more valuable room. After typing for a bit she said, "oh wait, i do have something here", and she gave us a "penthouse floor"room on the top floor(36th i believe it is)with a "battle view" overlooking the "Sirens" outdoor free show. I figured that i had hit paydirt here, thinking i would have a giant suite, the higher floors even have their own elevators which you need your room key to go up in! Well, to my dismay when i opened the door, i realized it was no bigger of a room than any other in the whole building, only difference or benefit i guess was the fact i was on the top floor, but then i gave up a chance to have the strip view, if i could have done it again , i would have taken the strip view, much more appealing at night then the "Sirens" show or view of the Palazzo. Looking on the website, the penthouse floor rooms like i got only sell for 10 dollars more per night than a regular floor, and the strip views in fact sell for 20.00 more, so i kind of downgraded myself from her initial offer.( I cant believe that a hotel would not have any good rooms, i did see some rooms with a double door so i know there is some suites somewhere there, but no more than a few in the whole place, this hotel should probably be downgraded from a 4 star to a 3 star. Least fancy hotel i have stayed in .One cool note would be that fact that when the fire works went off for the "Sirens" show we watched from our room as they came up and they were exactly in front of our window as we were centered right in the middle, that is an experience not too many can say they have seen(seeing fireworks coming up at you close up)

Checked in with moderate lines that were going pretty quickly. It took about 20 minutes to get to the front. Was greeted by the clerk and I advised her it was my friends first time in Vegas and he had just turned 21. Once she saw the $20 her tone suddenly changed and she had an upgrade for us in 2 minutes. Perhaps we could have done better but for $20 I couldn't complain! Private elevator was awesome!
