Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  PANAROMIC VIEW  from  STANDARD

Slipped $50 at check-in for 3 seperate rooms.
We all got upgraded to renovated rooms with view of the strip and each of us received bottle of champaign.
Very friendly frontdesk clerk.
She seemed nervous to take the tip but worked.
We always do the “front desk tip” in Vegas and worked everytime.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Strip-View  from  Deluxe

Walked up to the counter, sandwiched the $20 between ID and CC. The girl seperated the cards, saw the $20, smirked, and placed it aside. After asking what complimentary upgrades that had available, she countered with, “What kind of upgrade I was looking for?” I didn’t really know how to handle that question and fearing asking for a suite would ruin my chances, I went for the next best thing. I was awarded a strip-view room.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Strip View Room  from  Deluxe (regular) room

Checked in around 9PM – was hoping for the best since it was fairly late on a Sunday and by that time, they usually know which rooms are available.

Had the $20 sandwiched between my CC & ID and asked if she had any complimentary upgrades. She immediately said “not tonight” before even taking my ID or CC. But I don’t know if she said no because someone who seemed to possibly be her supervisor was nearby or because she didn’t see the $20.

But later, she said she could give me a room with a strip view in one of the newly remodeled tower rooms which I, of course accepted.

Better than nothing, and it didn’t cost anything either. Even without the $20, it doesn’t hurt to ask – you might get a slightly better room – or at least one with a better view. ;]

worked very nicely. She took for ever to palm the 20. She kept it under the credit card. When she was done she asked me if I wanted change. I said no and the deed was done. I would definitely do it again.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  tower suite

Got to the hotel about 12:45. She said our room was wasn’t ready yet, but we could get the paperwork done now. She asked for ID and card, I did the deed, told her my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary, and she got on the phone. She said that there were no free upgrades available, but that our room was all of a sudden clean and ready to go. She also said that she would have a bottle of champaigne sent to our room. I wouldn’t call it that much of a success, but I guess $20 is worth not having to lug my stuff around waiting for our room to be ready and a bottle of champaigne. Maybe next time I won’t start out w/ a tower suite

I put the $20 with credit card and license and asked for any room upgrade available. He matter of factly said no, so I put the $20 back in my pocket and enjoyed the room I had booked anyway.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  strip view  from  basic

Put the $20 between the ID and CC and asked if there were any upgrades available. Clerk upgraded us to a strip view and gave us the option of a view of the mountains on the 19th floor vs. a view of the strip in the 12th floor. Was also given a bottle of champagne which we exchanged for three bottles of water after a night of considerable drinking.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  panoramic corner view room  from  standard

The check-in girl was a young, pretty thing. She sure knew exactly what we were doing with the $20 tip. She said with a smile, I’ll see what I can do for you. The room we got would’ve been an extra $40 a nite, and the 2 floor to ceiling views of the strip were fantastic. A refrigerator was delivered the next day free of charge.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Basic with whole strip view  from  Basic Deluxe

Had tried this before at the Monte Carlo (which didn’t work) so I was hopeful after reading all the positive experiences here. I was hoping for a little better upgrade (i.e. bigger room) but we still ended up on the 27th floor facing South so we could see the entire strip from way up. Also a free bottle of champagne. I would definitely stay at TI again.
