Paid for the standard room for 1 night which was about $80 after fees. I got in at 11pm and there was only 2 females about mid 20’s checking people in but I felt comfortable that the sandwich would work. She upgraded the room with no problem. King Suite, no view of the high roller but you could see across the street at Caesars Palace Shops and the Mirage.
We just queue up for the general link, we ask if any upgrading available, she said it was during concert so the hotel was full… and no upgrade. Or add 50 per day for the suite, so we refused.
I asked about room upgrades when I handed over my ID, credit card and $20.
Did not take the $20 – handed it straight back. Told me curtly there were upgrades available but for a fee.
Did not take the money and said there where no upgrade possible because the hotel was ”full”.
i approached the desk with the $20 sandwiched between my id and credit card. he saw it, and immediately told us something along the lines of he can’t be bribed. so i had to put away the $20. i explained that we were a couple and would prefer a room with a king bed instead of the cheapest 2x double bed room we booked. he gave us a deluxe king with a view of the pool. and i gave him back the $20 which he begrudgingly accepted.
The clerk was a middle aged brunette Caucasian woman at express check-in. I am a young Caucasian male and I checked in on a Sunday around noon.
I did the $20 sandwich and politely asked her if she had any complementary room upgrades. She said we could pay $30 extra per night for an upgrade. I said no thank you and she gave me back my $20. There was a convention going on so perhaps that’s is why it didn’t work. #epicfail
Arrived around 7 pm, didn’t get to ‘choose’ a clerk as the desk was quite busy and there were quite a few people in line. When it was our turn, I handed the clerk my passport with $20 tucked inside (out of sight) and my credit card sticking out. She asked for the name the room was booked under, I replied and then politely asked if there were possibly any complimentary room upgrades available. She worked away at her computer a bit, and then said she could upgrade us from a deluxe double to a deluxe king, usually another $20/night for no charge. She did say the room wasn’t ready so we’d need to wait a bit for it to be cleaned, which was fine. She also gave us 8 comp drink tickets for one of the clubs at another property in the same hotel group. When she finally got to my passport and credit card, she saw the $20, asked if it was for her and then said we didn’t have to do that and gave it back!
I tried to do the $20 trick didn’t work. They only gave me options to upgrade for $40 for a love suite a night and all this expensive upgrades. I didn’t take it but they moved me to a remodeled room. No upgrade, she gave me back my $20 though.
I booked a room for my husband and I on Cyber Monday and got a deal – $17.00 per night for a “deluxe” room. I have read horror stories about IP but the deal was too good to pass up. We checked in early at 1pm. There was no line up. Our clerk was young and very friendly. I put the $20 in my passport and headed up to him. After some friendly small chat I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. He seemed really surprised by my question and was like “Um…” and I looked down at my passport. He noticed the $20 and again looked surprised and started laughing and said in an upbeat tone “Well maybe!”…a couple minutes later we were fully checked in and he handed us our room keys. He said if we didn’t like the room we couldn’t complain! (said with a wink and a smile). He knew it was our wedding anniversary and put us on the 10th floor in one of the newer towers. Our room was actually a suite! And everything looked recently renovated. New carpet, couches, chairs, TWO 40 inch flat screen tvs and a new king sized bed. We could not have asked for more and were so grateful to be given this suite for the duration of our stay!!! All of the staff at IP were amazing. We have zero complaints and will be back soon!
Was checking in for the weekend on a Thursday night. Got to IP around 10:15 or so and after a short wait in line got the oldest female clerk at the desk. Gave her the $20 sandwich, she was surprised, took the bill out and put under her calculator. She then said she was appreciative and would she what she could do. Since it was a weekend she couldn’t give me the full suite, but could give us the Mini Suite if that was ok. Since we were paying $137 already for the full weekend of 4 nights, the bump up for the mere $20 trip, So for $157 for the mini suite for the full weekend, was well worth it. great website and thanks.
