We arrived at 3:00pm and the lobby was packed. I was skeptical about the trick since there were so many people in line and it was my first time trying it but money TALKS. I slipped a $50 between my credit card and id and ask if there were any complimentary upgrades. He started typing away. Sure enough it was a SUCCESS!

I gave the check-in girl some sweet banter in my plum English accent, slipped her $20 and she gave it me back - said she'd "Look after" me regardless and couldn't/wouldn't take it. Upgraded me to the next class of room (far nicer, in the Strat) for the duration of my stay, even during CES week.

Upgraded To: Player's suite, with wet bar, mini fridge, lots more space and nicer bathroom with a stellar view of the strip. Also offered the choice of a whirlpool suite, but the woman at the desk said that the view was very poor and the tub wasn't all that impressive, so I took the player's suite.

In Vegas July 8--12. First night at the Stratosphere did the $20 under the credit card "move" and the desk clerk upgraded me to a decent view room with a Jacuzzi tub.

Stayed at the Stratosphere for 4 nights starting on 5/11. We had reservation in the world tower from a deal posted a few months ago on here. It was something like 220$ for all 4 nights. Anyways, I walked up to the counter and the guy asked for my ID. I started talking to him, asking him if its busy today, etc, then he stated my reservation and asked for my CC. I handed him my CC and a 20 dollar bill, while handing those over to him, I asked if there were any sort of upgrades we'd really appreciate it. He said thanks and started banging away at his pc. SCORED, he came back and said I can put you in the premium tower, strip view room, with a jacuzzi tub. He said this was a 30$ a night upgrade so it was a 150$ upgrade overall.
