I had heard about the 50th and 51st floors, so decided to try for one of those - after some discussion and "permission from his boss" we were given the keys to a deluxe rooom on the 50th floor, unfortunately I did not realise that both these floors, which are normally reserved for known casino players, are both smoking. As an asthmatic this was not good for me so we went back down and negotiated the second deal which was a 100% success.

A great hotel, perfect location, the alterations are almost done, the Spice Market buffet is back in the basement and, once again, one of Vegas' best. back again in March at an unbeatable $49 per night.

No Dice For miniboot at Planet Hollywood...

Shot down on the $20 trick at the Aladdin... can't remember the name of the clerk, but he was Asian, slightly chunky, and perhaps in his late 20s/early 30s.

30th Nov check-in, 4 night stay.

I asked about upgrades with a $20 visible under my credit card on the counter, the guy pulled out a list of rates. Asked if he could do any better and fully pulled out the $20 from under the card and practically waved it at him, and asked him if he could do any better on the upgrade, he didn't budge.

Weird as I don't think it was a particularly busy time either. The Rodeo was in town but that's about it. As it happened, I thought the 'standard' room was fine so no major issues, but the disappointment of no upgrade did put me off spending money in their casino. And the pinks hot dogs in the restaurant there SUCKED.

Reserved the room via website with promo code CNEW ($49,$49,$109,$139). Checked in at around 9:30pm, it was quiet. Gave the clerk my id and I held the $20 with my credit card. I asked him if he had any complimentary upgrades, and he told me he'll see what he could do. He showed me a floor plan of the resort room and said he could waive the $50/night upgrade charge. I thanked him for the upgrade, and gave him the $20 tip. FYI - the registration desk opens in it's new location this week. Looks pretty nice.

I was so nervous. Spotted the eyes in the ceiling and spotted the supervisors behind certain clerks. The line was long and every station seems to have a clerk so there was no way to be certain of who I was going to get. Then I saw her. She's beautiful. She walked towards the center and signal me to her station. That's exactly what a single nervous guy needs: a gorgeous girl to service him. I can't help but feel intimindated as I approach the counter. Then, I jumped the gun. It was too soon and I knew it was over when I blurted "I'm celebrating my birthday [11/17] and was wondering if there are any complimentary upgrades". It came out too soon. She doesn't even know my name yet. But she played it cool. "I'll see what we have". I was prepared for this. I had my Jackson between the id and the translucent AMEX. I wanted her to know I was ready. She looked and saw me playing with it, moving it back and forth. She asked for it, the id. I hesitated. I gave her the id but I didn't give her the Jackson. I should have if I wanted her to give me what I want. So I asked for it "I have some friends coming over, could I get a larger room?" She offered a Resort Suite with a small view of the Bellagio fountain. At this point, I was desperate and I would have taken anything I could get my hands on. I gave her the Jackson with my AMEX to close it. She's well trained and experienced. As soon as the Jackson was in her palm, it vanished like magic trick. We sealed the deal and then we parted.

We had gotten a resort suite but there was no view of Bellagio fountains. We can see the far left Bellagio tower but not enough to catch a glimpse of the fountain. Then there was construction going on next to Bellagio (across from us). Did you know construction of a new shopping mall is allowed 24 hours a day in Vegas? It was noisy but we were all pretty tired at the end of each evening. Oh and I had tried to do a $5 trick on the room maid for extra soap, shampoo, etc. (I wrote and left a note) I only got ONE extra set. At least we got turn over service on the 2nd night. It was educational and fun. Thanks for the tip!

Placed 20 b/t ID and CC a man in late 20's took the bill and asked how he could help me. Asked if there were any comp upgrades and he started checking (i was not too hopeful since i am here 7 days) After 6-7 mins he said all set. Took out my credit card and folded the $20 under it. Passed to the rep and asked if there were any upgrades available. She did a quick check and said she can get me a fountain view(aka view of the Bellagio). When I asked about the room, kind of hinting for a better upgrade, she mentioned how the room is typically an extra $30 a night which was a hint for me to shut up and take the room, which I did.

No Dice For solace77 at Planet Hollywood...

We got the room thru a deal on fat wallet ($59, $59, $179 plus 2for1 buffet and free show tix etc, no club card required). My husband did the checking in with the $20 under the card asking for any upgrades. He was told that we were already upgraded to a 100sq ft more (resort room). My husband asked if there were any other complementary upgrades available descretely flashing the $20. The clerk then pulled out a sheet with prices for upgrades if we wanted them. The clerk then grabbed the CC and the twenty dropped on the counter and he didn't seem to know what to do with it. My husband ended up leaving it with the clerk in the end (although he was kind of mad the $20 didn't work like we expected.) The resort rooms are nice but we were on the 9th floor with a view of a roof/wall with the eiffel tower above it.

This guy seemed to know what to do and had the CC and the $20 on the keyboard and was actively looking for something better. They ended up with a resort room on the 19th floor with a view of the south end of the strip (MGM, NY NY, Monte Carlo).

Booked via hotel website with promo code.
Upon check-in, asked for complimentary upgrade. No go, room full he said. Then slipped the $20 bill, and a few keystrokes later, upgraded to bigger room with the strip view(19th floor i think).
Tried to push for the suite, no go, full he said.

Booked with the gas saving package for $89 each night and a $40 gas credit on their website, so it comes around to $69 a night. I casually handed the guy my cards with the $20, he immediately knew what's going on. Told him would like to get a nicer room. He gave me a deluxe room on the 38th floor directly in front of the Bellagio fountain. The view was great, then the guy called me up to see if it's up to my liking. I told him I prefer nicer room over views. So he told me to come down and gave me the resort room on the 23th floor instead. He told me he would have gave me an even nicer room but I arrived late at night and all the better ones were out, after typing on the computer for a few minutes.

Definetly worth it for the bigger room and the way better bathroom.

I put a $20 bill between my DL. and Credit Card and handed them to the female clerk. She handed the $20 dollar bill back to me and I asked if they had any complimentary upgrades. She said that my reservation had a "speical note" and she would need to speak to her manager. When she came back she said that I had been upgraded to a Resort Room with a view of New York New York and Monte Carlo. After she told me how to get to my room I handed her the $20 back.

Jackpot! DragonD Got A Planet Hollywood Room Upgrade

Stayed at Alladin on 8/2-8/5 with the $50 deal on this site. Came late around midnight to check in and the front desk guy said that there were no more views of the strip and no non smoking rooms availible. Handed him my CC and ID with $20 folded with it and asked him if there was anything that he could do for Non Smoking since I was not willing to stay in a smoking room no matter how nice. He took the items and walked over to another computer with some other guy and saw him talking to another guy. He came back and said that he found a non smoking room. Got to our room and it was a Resort room instead of a Deluxe that I booked, non smoking, and a high floor but no strip view, but it was an awesome view of the mountains and valley.
