Jackpot! Matt Got A Paris Room Upgrade

I am 3 for 3 at Paris. I read some of the failure reports, and some say they had the $20 in their hand or in a folder. Don't do this! Hand the clerk the money with your driver's license and CC. If you are a platinum player or better, be sure to hand them your player card also. Don't bother if you're only gold-everyone gets gold when they sign up. This last time, I asked for a Calais suite, but they didn't have one available for every day that I was there. I then asked for an upgraded room-the higher floors have been renovated and are much nicer. I also asked for a strip view (very important at Paris or you'll be looking at the parking deck!). SUCCESS! The clerk felt bad there were no Calais suites available and offered to return my $20. I said no, you still got me a great room. Most will return the $20 if they can't help you, so what do you have to lose????

I walked up to the clerk and gave her the $20 in between my license and credit card. She immediately knew what was up and said, "Oh, I see you have a gift for me. I take it you want me to see if I can get a great room." It worked like a charm. We got a corner room overlooking the strip.

Jackpot! Melissa Got A Paris Room Upgrade

I gave the woman at the desk my ID and credit card and greeted her nicely. I asked if she had any renovated rooms available and she said it was very busy but she would check. After a few minutes she came up with one on the 29th floor. I gave her $20 for her work and thanked her. I didn't show the $20 first, but she still went ahead and searched for me.

I put the $20. between my drivers license and my CC and asked the clerk if she had any renovated rooms on a high floor overlooking the Bellagio fountains. We got a room on the 25th floor which was a lot nicer than the room that we got last year. It was completely renovated and had a large flat screen TV. We had a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the fountains. In the past there was an extra charge for rooms facing the strip.

No Dice For Dan at Paris...

Held the 20 prominently in my hand and asked for the upgrade. The front desk lady promptly told me all the suites were sold out. She was not helpful at all. Then when we get to our room, I find we have a view of the parking lot! My original reservation request was for a view of the Bellagio fountains. Oh well!

Did the $20 sandwich trick and was upgraded to a Lemans suite. Was all excited etc until I posted my results on tripadvisor when someone informed me that was standard for Harrah's gold card members. Oh well, my wife and I loved the suite with jacuzzi tub in her bathroom. No view but who cares? We were up til 5am every morning and didn't go to vegas to look at a bunch of flashing lights.

WELL LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS WORTH IT , WE HAD A GREAT VEIW NICE ROOM WITH MINI BAR AND 42" PLASMA T.V., THE CLERK GAVE ME THE $50.00 BACK AND SAID IT WOULD NOT TAKE IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A TRUE FREE UPGRADE, I STILL GAVE HIM $20.00 FOR HIS HELP.

Jackpot! Wendy Got A Paris Room Upgrade

Worked just like this site said- we were checking in around noon and celebrating an anniversary but are sure the $20 was what did the trick. I specifically wanted 1) a renovated room and 2) to be able to watch the Bellagio fountains from our room and we got both! Even could hear the music so knew when the fountains were starting. So glad I had read about this and also had checked TripAdvisor to know what rooms would be best to try for.

No Dice For Meg at Paris...

Checked in around 11:30 am on Tuesday Dec 11th, slipped a 20 between DL and CC and flashed the 20 to the clerk while asking if there were complimentary upgrades available. He snickered and said "No, only paid updgrades $60/night for a Fountain View Room with Concierge Access. $85/night for a Suite with Concierge access." We took the $60/night and requested a recently rennovated room and were told that those are reserved for high rollers. The clerk was very by the book.

Jackpot! Thomas Got A Paris Room Upgrade

Found this site the night before I left...decided to slip a $50.00 instead of the recommended $20.00...asked if any comp upgrades...she walked into back office for 5 minutes and said that she could comp me a renovated room usually reserved for Diamond Club card members and usually an added $60.00 a night...said it would be on a high floor with wonderful view of Tower and the Bellagio Fountains...said she could only get me a suite if she charged me an extra $80.00 a night...I declined and took the fountain view room...she then handed me back my $50.00 and apologized for not being able to get me a suite..room was great with great view...renovated with huge LCD TV...

Jackpot! Scott Got A Paris Room Upgrade

One thing I've noticed with this "trick" is that you have to have a little confidence and brains in order to pull it off...here are a few rules.

Unless its your birthday or anniversary, don't say it is...chances are the clerk will take it as an excuse / lie.

Don't dress like a tourist or a slob...if it looks like you're trying to get something for nothing, chance are you'll get nothing.

Don't be blatantly obvious about it...if the clerk says no, take it as a no and try again next time...don't give dirty looks, or gripe to someone else about it...

Don't turn around and tell the entire group you're with to try the same thing...

its mostly common sense people...good luck

Jackpot! Rich Got A Paris Room Upgrade

I put $50 between my CC & Passport as we were staying 5 days and asked for a complementary upgrade. The clerk tapped away for a while and disappeared in the back for even longer before giving us a choice of a ready renovated room or a not ready room with strip view, I chose the latter.

After we went to take our luggage to the bell boy (and crucially I'd declined change from my $50) she caught up with us and said she'd found a better room. A corner room with 2 windows, both with view of the strip. Unrenovated, but fantastic. Well worth the money.

Did the $20 between ID and CC and asked if there were any "complimentary upgrades" available. He gave me a smile and knowing nod and said he'd see what he could do. He found us a newly renovated room for free but since it was close to the time they release the suites he asked if I'd be interested in upgrading to a $800-$1,200/night suite for $85 more. Having never been in a suite before I thought I might as well. He found one that had also been newly renovated. It was gorgeous, awesome room. Worth the extra money.

Showed my $20.00 bill and asked if there were any upgrades available above the 25th floor, she said I'll be back in a moment came back a few minutes later and said we would be very happy with the room. Well we were it... had a 42" plasma tv and all recently redone in reds and deep brown furniture , was absolutely beautiful!!!!

Jackpot! Got A Paris Room Upgrade

Clerk asked if I was interested in an upgrade for $$, and I politely said, "No, thanks." I then handed her my DL/$20/CC and said that I would be interested in a complimentary upgrade. She went in the back room for about 5 minutes. When she came back out, she said, "We don't provide complimentary upgrades, but this seems like a special night. We can put you in a nice room." The suite was nice, but in dire need of a renovation. She even called after we arrived in the room to see if everything was alright. I would have been pissed if I had paid rack rate for the run down rooms at Paris.

No Dice For wisconsin gambler at Paris...

Halfway through Labor Day weekend, checked in Sunday afternoon. Asked for complimentary upgrade per this website's instructions. Clerk did some typing, then sighed and said they were too full for a real upgrade. He returned the twenty. However, he did switch us from a room with no view (back of Bally's) to one overlooking pool and Eiffel tower, more pleasant. However, room needs renovation, TV small, bed soft and creaky.
