Jackpot! BUD Got A Palms Room Upgrade

Had a 20 showing between license and credit card. Asked for a comp. upgrade. She saw the twenty, and said she would get us into the newer Fantasy tower. I said that is great thanks. She said Thank you, put the 20 in her pocket, and put us on the 17th floor of the new tower. Well worth $20 for 2 nights.

Checked in at around 2 pm, asked the clerk to be upgraded to the newer fantasy tower, she mentioned no can do, i asked for any type of upgrade with a strip view, she gave us the junior suite with a north strip view(as opposed to the strip view)on the 51st floor.
Was worth it for sure!

Put the $20 between the card and license, and the gentleman who checked us in, didn't see the $20 right away, and was quick to say that there were no upgrades on our room that was already booked. When he saw the $20 he was quick to offer us the newer fantasy tower, and put us on the floor with the Crib Suite, the Bowling Suite, etc. Didn't see or hear anyone on that floor the entire week until Friday night. Also gave us 12 club passes, and told us to come back the next day if we needed passes to any clubs on the street, and he would make sure to get us passes.

Worked like a charm... with a male clerk. Attempted to check in with a female and experienced an instant attitude. Immediately walked away and returned when there were more male clerks. Ended up checking in with a male clerk and the upgrade worked flawlessly! Thanks for the lesson.

Complete sucess I offered the tip with the ID and Card, she placed it in plain view on the top of the counter and told me (After I requested any comp upgrades), she has a great suite perfect for us.
After accepting the room she left the tip on the counter and I said, that's for you. She replied thats not neccesary and thanked me taking the tip. made me think they do not want to get in trouble, but as with all hotels I have sucessfully tried this at, if you are polite and they have the rooms available you will more than likley be sucessful. I LOVE THE Palms, it is cool and funky. Easily the best place to stay in vegas...

I checked in for 1 night on a Monday. Placed my CC and the $20 on the counter and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. The clerk checked and asked if a Grand Suite in the Palms Tower would work. I said yes, thank you. The room was great. Living room, King bed, 2 bathrooms and an awesome strip view. Was also successful at South Point but that hotel is not listed on this site.

Got there around 8pm. Went up to desk and asked for complimentary upgrade. She offered a junior suite, but when I asked for "something in the fantasy tower", she obliged happily. This was very easy! She didn't even notice that I had put a $20 in between my CC and ID until after she gave me the room. Of course, she pocketed the cash after giving a quick look around.

I put the $20 with my ID and credit card and asked if there were and upgrades available. She asked about the room and if King bed and non smoking were still required. I said yes. She then said NO PROBLEM SIR I HAVE AN UPGRADE FOR YOU. What was interesting was that right next to me the clerk was telling a guest checking in that they were out of king bed rooms and they do not guaranty a bed type as it is only a request. The $20 worked!!!

No Dice For Anonymous at Palms...

I though everyone that wanted a non smoking room got the new tower, and smokers got the old tower. I have stayed there may times, even with my inlaws and we as non smokers got the new tower and inlaws - smokers got the old tower. The new tower is much nicer.

I thought the Fantasy Rooms were supposed to be a bit bigger than the regular rooms so at check-in, I asked if there were any available. She started typing and said “No, I don’t think that would be possible tonite.” I handed her my CC with a $20 and waited for her response.
“Room service is finishing up with some rooms right now, so let me just keep checking”. Two minutes later – she found a room in the Fantasy Tower, so I guess it was a success.
The room itself was very nice, brand new, contemporary – but nothing extraordinary. There was NO view – just some construction. Can’t really say if it was worth it or not, b/c I don’t know what the older rooms in the original tower looked like, but I’m assuming for the “extra” $10 per night, it was worth it to guarantee a brand-new room. I WANTED a Superior Room in the Fantasy Tower, but she didn’t give me that.
