2 Rooms, over holiday weekend plus a few days during the week. $40 tip got us upgraded from 10th and 15th floors to the 25th floor. However, because we checked in, in the middle of the holiday we were not moved until after our first night in the hotel. Much better view on the 25th floor obviously plus better upgrades in the room.

I will definitely try the Front Desk Tip every time I go.

No Dice For SJDJ at Mirage...

Had success last year at TI so I had the $20 between ID and CC as usual. Clerk saw it and said there was nothing available before I could even hand it over (very late Saturday night check in, Sunday AM really, thanks Dollar Rent A Car for not having cars). Didn't cost us a thing, so a push really. Still got 21st floor facing the Venetian/Palazzo complex.

I had reserved two deluxe (standard) strip view rooms, and decided to try the sandwich. I gave $40, figuring $20 per room. The front desk clerk, a blond late 20's woman, asked for my ID and credit card, and I slipped the $40 between the two. She took the sandwich and put the $40 on her keyboard. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available, and she said she was looking but then came back that the best that she could offer us was to put us on the 23rd floor (top floor for the standard rooms) in a renovated room (the Mirage is currently in the process of renovating all their rooms). She put the $40 in her pocket and gave us line passes for the Mirage restaurants and buffet.

I'm marking this as a success because she took the money and tried to do something for us, but frankly for $40 I would have hoped for more, such as an upgrade to Tower Deluxe rooms. Maybe because it was two rooms this was harder, but the rooms we got were the same as what we had reserved, just on a high floor. We never did use the line passes. Additionally, when we got to our rooms (three hours later), one of them had one king bed when we had reserved two queens, the front desk gave us a lot of trouble about switching rooms, and the new room didn't have a strip view.

Checked in with typical $20 between CC and DL, intially was in line with a younger clerk but she was having issues with a man trying to check in and there was a manager hovering over her so I guessed she was new and decided to find a more "seasoned" clerk which worked like a charm. Once she saw the money she slipped it quickly in her pocket before I could say a word and said "let me see what I can do". She upgraded us to a Deluxe Tower on the 25th flor which had a private elevator for the 24th & 25th floors only and was NICE. Not yet renovated as many other floors but it was none the less very nice. Great view of pool and stip, worked like a charm!

Arrived about 11pm and tucked a $100 dollar bill between credit card and ID. She saw the $100 and after 2 phone calls we were upgraded to the Penthouse's.

Checked in to the Mirage at 6:07 P.M., was asked for my ID an a Drivers license with a $20.00 bill between the above mentioned items. Ashley the clerk accepted the $20, said thanks and I asked her if there were any complimentary upgrades. I told her that it was our aniversary and that we were just staying for one night. She said that she would check and then gave us the room #24-008. Ashley then explained the amenities that were in this room which had a jacuzzi tub with a marble tiled Floor. She then directed us to the Guest elavators, which were only used for the 24 & 25 Floors. There were other elavators for the A-Z Pent house rooms. Ashley is about 5' 2-4 inches tall and has black shoulder length hair. In the station tothe left of Ashleys station there were 3 ladies, one of which looked like a supervisor, but none of them were paying any attention to what was happening at Ashleys station. Could not obtain there names as they were talking with their backs to us. The room had a fully stocked mini bar, a cabinet with a 2 cloths closets, and a hiden TV for our use. While we were in the Casino someone turned down the bed and left 2 chocolates on the night stand. Checked out of the Mirage hotel at approximately 7:48 A.M., obtained our receipt and left for the Valet to obtain our vehicle. Had a Great time and were treated with friendliness and respect through out our stay at the Mirage.

Did the trick as recommended, but she actually didn't take mt license or credit card because she said she had my info, so I set it on the counter with the 20 sticking out so she could see it. She saw it and said she appreciated it and I got the upgrade.
