I tucked the $20 bill in between my ID and credit card. The receptionist assisting me simply said "Thank you" and I did not have to utter another word.

She informed me that I was originally assigned a standard room on the 5th floor but that she would try to accomodate me elsewhere. After a few minutes, she assigned me to a room with a view of the Strip AND the pool on the 21st floor. She was such a sweetheart about it that she even handed the $20 back.

The room was great, and a few minutes later the bellman arrived with my luggage and some complimentary amenities--Gouda Cheese & Crackers, Cherry Chocolates, and Shortbread Cookies all at no expense!

Therefore, I deem this experience a GREAT SUCCESS and I look forward to the next time I use the $20 tip!

I reserved a regular Deluxe Room. I checked in around 8pm, pulled out a sandwich and asked if they have any complementary upgrades, also mentioned that I'm getting married tomorrow. The lady offered me a Tower Deluxe Room on the 25th floor (last floor), she also asked if I prefer Strip View or pool view on the 25th Floor (last floor). Then she said I will also send a complementary bottle of Champaign next day. I love it 

Booked for a standard room for 5 nights. Slid $20 between ID and card and she quickly upgraded to premium view. She apologized that she could not get us a tower as they were all booked. Very easy to do.

It was a Friday around 11:30 AM. We really wanted to get upgraded to a suite since we had 2 extra people joining us unexpectedly. Since it was a 3 day stay, early in the day, a weekend, and a suite we were looking for, we decided to go woth $50. She took the cards and money right off the counter and clicked away, made 2 phone calls, and there we were upgraded to the 24th floor. One of the few rooms with 2 queen beds. She said they never have suites available on the weekends. We were thrilled. Room was a little bigger and the double sinks really helped. Private elevator was great. Can't wait to do it again!

Asked the nice girl behind the check-in if they had any rooms on the 24th or 25th floor. She said that she had a strip view room on the 24th which was usually $50 extra a night. I said that would be perfect and handed her my passport and $20 sticking out of the top. She smiled, said thank you very much and there would be no charge. I even got my free Champagne and chocolates every night.

Arrived around 11pm ready to make my first bet! Considering it was for a 3 night stay during the CES, I though I'd better up the ante to a c-note. Lovely young lady working the desk and we chatted about the recent snowfall and how the kids reacted to it. A quick call to the casino host and she offered me Mirage Suite on Penthouse E level. Nice digs! I also asked about the gym for a workout, and she added two spa passes to the mix, as well as a couple of line passes for the restaurant. I didn't use the buffet passes, but the room upgrade & spa passes were worth about $450. Not a bad return on investment! The Mirage is still a favorite spot, and right in the center of the strip. If you're into the club scene, don't miss Jet.

Checked in and had the $20.00 between my american express and drivers license. I did not have to say a word. The lady said let me see what I can do. I was put on the top floor 25th with a private elevator. Room look right on to the Volcano and down the strip to the south.

No Dice For Business Travler at Mirage...

When I checked in I did the sandwich, the girl took the $20, then went in the back. She offered me a tower room for $50 a night extra, I declined and she took the $ anyways. There were 4 girls doing check-in, and all but mine had nametags that said they were in training.

When I got to the room, It was on the 3rd floor overlooking a roof. I called the manager and told her what happened, she apologized and said they can't take tips for upgrades, but moved me to a 17th floor room with a great view. Next time I will show the $20, but not part with it till I get the upgrade. It was kinda fun though, will do next time.

Checked in in the early afternoon on a Friday. Not busy. Used the $20 between the ID's and requested something on the 24th or 25th floor. Clerk acted surprised that they had something and got the keys right away. Note: Most rooms on the deluxe floors are one bed, which didn't work for me cause it was a guys trip. Went back and asked if any with two beds were available and was able to get one, althouh they said there were only 2 on each floor.

checked in at around 2:30ish, handed the sandwich over and he started typing away looking for an upgrade. he was kinda nervous doing it, it seemed. after 5 minutes he offered me a room on the 10th floor to which i asked if there was anything on the 24th or 25th floor. after another 5 minutes he found one on the 24th floor. i asked for 4 room keys and got it with no problem. no champagne sent up to room though. my friend got a better clerk (she was a young blonde)and got the same room but it had a view of the pool, jacuzzi and double sinks. we also got a private elevator that goes to the 24th or 25th floor which is huge; no waiting at all.
