Michel got an upgrade! Arrived on a Monday around noon and the place was somewhat busy with each line about 3 people long. Slipped the crisp $20 between DL and CC and asked ask if we could get a premium tower room with seperate shower and "Pool view" (Didn't want to face the volcano). She let the $20 in full view and checked her computer... She found us a room on the 25th just as we asked. Elevator serves floors 24/25 only, so it was pretty fast despite the fact that only one was working for most of our stay. Thanks Mirage! And and also got a bottle of sparkling wine (Not champagne as it's not French).

I chose the youngest, cutest female clerk. I walked up and started by making small talk (noticed she was from Chicago and talked about my layover there adn how I lived there when I was young). After talking a bit she asked for my id and credit card so I slipped the 20 between the two. She said "I will see what I can do." Then she asked what I was looking for. I told her since its my wife and my 5 year anniversary I was hoping for a high room with a volcano/strip view. After a long time typing, she said our room on 17th floor was the best she could do.

She also stated she would send a "gift" from the Mirage to my room as an anniversary gift. I was quite excited as I have never done this kinda thing before.

The view was not exactly what I was hoping for, as I really wanted a volcano view but what I got was nice! I was scared to get a view of dumpsters or just casino roof like some hotels give people who book the cheap rooms.

My only dissappointment was that the clerk said the "Gift" (champainge most likely) would be delievered the sometime over the 2nd or 3rd day of our trip but not the night of check in, which I was okay with. HOwever, it NEVER showed up. I never asked because I didnt want to get her in trouble or anything, but it was disappointing.

Checked in about 6:30pm, it was really busy. Handed the young woman my cc and ID with the $20 in between and said "we were really hoping for a complimentary upgrade if you have any available". She smiled and said "why yes of course, just let me check". She typed into her computer for a couple minutes, and excused herself to talk to someone else. She really tried to get us into a suite but none were available, so she got us a nice view of the strip instead. She tried to return the tip, but I insisted she keep it because she gave it a good 10-15 minutes of searching. The next day a complimentary bottle of champagne showed up in our room. The only thing that confused me is that she left the tip wide open on top of the keyboard while she searched, so I'm not sure what they're policy is on tipping and comp'ing upgrades. Guess they're not too strict?

I went to vegas with my wife and she said I was crazy to even try the 20 dollar trick. But when we arrived, around 9PM I had the sandwich ready and stood in line for a male clerk. Right when I get to the desk, there was a shift change to a female clerk. At first I thought, "Great...here we go, so much for that..." I still decided to give it a shot and I handed her the sandwich and asked her about the upgrades and when she saw the 20, her eyes lit up, flashed me a smile and started to type away. She upgraded me to the 24th floor and on my way we went....

Checked in at 11 AM. Was offered a upgrade to tower suite for fifty more a night. We passed asked for a high floor and volocano/strip view. We were given a room on the 12th floor with a nice view of the strip and volocano. So it sort of worked. But It was christmas day so I did not mind giving the clerk the 20 dollar tip anyways.

Checked in at the Mirage around 4pm on Friday. Went to the 1st availavle clerk, presented the sandwich, and asked for a complimentary upgrade. after a few minutes she found us a room overlooking the strip and the volcano. Considering I booked the cheapest promo room possible via the Mirage website, I found the $20 well worth the investment

Went to first available clerk around 5pm. Husband handed her a twenty after she took our name and asked if there were any upgrades available. She placed money next to keyboard, looked it up and responded that we would be upgraded. Room on 25th floor, great view, jacuzzi tub and a bottle of complimentary champagne was delivered on our 2nd night. We'll be back!!!

OK, a bit late submitting, but Yes we got an upgrade. A long day travelling from UK, Thursday night prior to Hatton v Pacquiao fight, so Vegas is rammed.

We got to the Mirage about 10pm ish, walking up to the reception desk, i noticed a couple of nice blonde receptionists, my Mrs went to one and checked in, handing in our booking ref, at the same time she asked is there any chance of an upgrade? Slipping the sandwich accross the counter, bingo!!!

We got upgraded to a tower suite room on the 25th floor, overlooking Strip/Caesers next door. What a sweet view!

We will be returning in a few years, and will be trying again!

Arrived about noon with a published 3 PM check in time. Had a Twenty between the credit card and ID. Clerk said no problem with an early check in and inquired if we were in town for a special event. Replyed that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary. Offered a 24th floor with a strip view but it would not be ready until 2PM. No problem, so I went back at two and the room was not ready but there was one ready on 25. Took that room and checked in and the room was a definite upgrade. Next morning after breakfast we went back and the room keys didn't work. Went to the check in desk and the young lady behind the desk seemed surprised that we were in that room and that "we have a problem". She went in back and came out a minute later and said "no problem" and offered new room keys. That afternoon a bottle of champaigne was delivered. There was a problem with the elevator that was for the two top floors but no waits until we checked out in Friday. We and two other couples had to take the service elevator to get to the lobby. The young man that we approached was very helpful escorting us out to the lobby area.
