Jackpot! Heather Got A Imperial Palace Room Upgrade

I booked a room for my husband and I on Cyber Monday and got a deal - $17.00 per night for a "deluxe" room. I have read horror stories about IP but the deal was too good to pass up. We checked in early at 1pm. There was no line up. Our clerk was young and very friendly. I put the $20 in my passport and headed up to him. After some friendly small chat I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. He seemed really surprised by my question and was like "Um..." and I looked down at my passport. He noticed the $20 and again looked surprised and started laughing and said in an upbeat tone "Well maybe!"...a couple minutes later we were fully checked in and he handed us our room keys. He said if we didn't like the room we couldn't complain! (said with a wink and a smile). He knew it was our wedding anniversary and put us on the 10th floor in one of the newer towers. Our room was actually a suite! And everything looked recently renovated. New carpet, couches, chairs, TWO 40 inch flat screen tvs and a new king sized bed. We could not have asked for more and were so grateful to be given this suite for the duration of our stay!!! All of the staff at IP were amazing. We have zero complaints and will be back soon!

Was checking in for the weekend on a Thursday night. Got to IP around 10:15 or so and after a short wait in line got the oldest female clerk at the desk. Gave her the $20 sandwich, she was surprised, took the bill out and put under her calculator. She then said she was appreciative and would she what she could do. Since it was a weekend she couldn't give me the full suite, but could give us the Mini Suite if that was ok. Since we were paying $137 already for the full weekend of 4 nights, the bump up for the mere $20 trip, So for $157 for the mini suite for the full weekend, was well worth it. great website and thanks.

No Dice For Jason at Imperial Palace...

Tried to get a upgrade on an already discounted casino rate room at the IP. Tried the $20 trick after waiting in the check in line for literally 1.5 hours! (not kidding) .

Was told no, but I could pay $15 to upgrade my room to the Love Suite. I did anyways.

This hotel is crap. Second time I stayed here and I will not return.

This was my first time using the $20 sandwich trick. I didn't target any specific clerk, just went random. Handed my folded $20 with my drivers license and credit card, and asked, "Do you have any free Rom upgrades?" Within two minutes the clerk upgraded us to the King Suite from a Deluxe room. Tip, ask, and you shall recieve!

No Dice For Sophia at Imperial Palace...

I checked in around 2pm when there was a lot of ppl waiting. As soon as the lady saw the $20 sanwich, she said there is no free upgrade, upgrade is available at $30/night. I came back 2h later, got another woman who looks nicer, however, I had no luck either. It seems they are pretty strict about upgrades recently, or I am just not that lucky.

No Dice For Kayla at Imperial Palace...

So we checked in late around 10:00pm and noticed that all the clerks were female. Fortunately (I thought), the VIP line was empty and the clerk who called me up was a middle aged Asian male. I thought I scored since I've heard that males were more likely to be more lenient with upgrades, but was I wrong. I made some small talk and when he asked me for my ID/CC, I flashed the 20 very obviously and asked him if there was any complimentary upgrades available. He didn't even give me a chance and said that there were none. Very obvious again (flashing the 20 some more) I asked him again if there was anything else he could do, by that point the manager asked me the question and I told her. No luck. I don't think I'd ever stay here again since it is a cheap roach motel anyways and the Capri building is like going to Iraq with the noise and break-ins and such.

My wife and I arrived at 7.30pm, midweek, and there was no-one else queueing. As we were staying for 14 nights, we upped the sandwich filling to a $100 note, which we prominently displayed, or so we thought, sticking out of my passport!
We dropped several hints we'd like a room with a lot of space, but not a Luv-Tub room and pointed at the $100 note a couple of times and said that's for you if you can help us.Somehow, she didn't notice the money, but said she'd given us a high-floor room with a Strip view. When she eventually realised her tip, she thanked us profusely and gave us 2 free comp breakfast buffets and 2 free comp dinner buffets, worth $60 total.
However, when we got to this room it was small, very noisy due to the rock club downstairs and worst of all the room hadn't been cleaned!!
We called her and she immediately had us transferred to a mini-suite with separate lounge, 2 tv's and a lot of space! In all, between what we paid Expedia, the sandwich and taking the comp buffets into account, we paid around $27 per night for a mini-suite!! Give it a try, it is well worth it, they can only say no!

Our flight to Vegas was delayed three hours, so we didn't arrive at the hotel until about 1:30 AM. By then, there were only two females working the front desk. We had originally booked two rooms for 7 people total, but we each sandwiched $20 and were upgraded to a 2 bedroom penthouse with connecting living room/bar. For IP, this is not bad at all! And to think, the rooms were comped to begin with!

No Dice For Griffin at Imperial Palace...

Checked in on a Thursday evening around 7:00 PM. I handed the $20 to the clerk with my drivers license and credit card. He said, "Oh, do you need change?" I told him no and asked if he had any complimentary room upgrades. He laughed and said "Upgrades aren't free here, upgrades are something you pay for." He checked me in and I got the crappiest room ever. I will never stay at this hotel again. It gives me the creeps just to think about how crappy the rooms are here.

The clerk was great, she upgraded no questions asked! The room itself was not that impressive. This was definitely an older room and we had to walk what seemed like 1/4 of a mile through 3-4 different hallways to get to the room. The view of the pools from the room was nice.
Just a word of advice on this hotel....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you have the extra cash, stay away from this place. The rooms that aren't remodeled are just horrible, half the elevators were not working and the ones that did work were completely full, and the layout of the building was just awful.

I read about the 20 dollar trick on this web site. I decided to try it when my friend and I stayed at The Imperial Place for a Wedding in Vegas for 4 nights. We are two girls in our mid twenties. I was a little hesitant, because the front desk clerk I got was an older woman ( I knew I could weasel a man, but a woman? ) I slipped her the 20 in the sandwich. She was very pleased when she saw it, and became really quiet and you could tell she was trying to be sneaky around her manager. I was honestly hoping for a jacuzzi sweet, but oh no - SHE GAVE US THE PENTHOUSE!! It was bigger than my apartment. We had a huge balcany with sun beds, a huge bedroom, a bar, a dining table, a living room, and a bathroom with a giant jacuzzi and a huge vanity. It was amazing, all for an extra $20. We originally paid $300 for 4 nights. I know thsi room cost way more than that for one night! I will say though, that 3 of my other girls checked in the next day, and tried the 20 trick, and got nothing.

Jackpot! Terrance Got A Imperial Palace Room Upgrade

My fiance, Marleen, mentioned this website & trick to me before getting to Vegas. It immediately made sense to me. The check-in reps for the hotel get an hourly wage, if they can make an extra buck here or there, why not, if there's availability in the hotel. Higher-end rooms will sometimes go to waste if this 'trick' didn't exist. Hopefully this website doesn't increase supervision of the hotel clerk's. So we get to the Imperial Palace and while waiting in line, I have a $20 bill under my driver's license. I practice what I would say in my head, "Hi, we just got engaged in November and couldn't get away until now. Are there any complimentary upgrades in rooms?" while I would hand the clerk the 20 spot and ID without the clerk getting caught by the 'eye in the sky'. Because it was a male clerk, I handed him my ID, giving him the same line. He responded with, "I'm sorry sir, we're all booked up." We told him we would like a room away from the Harrah's noise. He said, "Let me see what I can do." He left for a couple minutes and returned with a document and handed it to me. He told me he could upgrade us to the Flamingo, which he assured us was much nicer. The difference in cost for the same room was $100. We get to the Flamingo and had to wait a little in line before we got help. We gave the clerk (male again) the same line as we did to the clerk at Imperial Palace. He said, "Let me see what I can do." At first he was willing to give us a room on the TOP FLOOR! Then Marleen asked, "Could we have a room facing the strip?" He told us he couldn't place us on the top floor, but that he could give us a room facing the strip on the 14th floor. We took it at no extra cost. $100 upgrade AND facing the strip! We got to our room and could see Caesars-palace/"target="_blank">Caeser's Palace & The Belaggio (water show) from our room. [Harrah's owns many hotels in the area which explains the document given to us to comp us] The moral of the story is ladies and gentlemen, you never know until you ask, and we didn't use ANY MONEY whatsoever for the upgrade.

I can't believe how great the $20 trick works! Walked up to the Imperial Palace check-in desk, slipped a 20 b/t my CC & DL, asked if they had any upgrades available and they obliged by setting me up in a whole different hotel!

Why would you people stay at IP(Freely)?
