No Dice For Karl at Flamingo...

Booked a standard room. Checked in at about 3:00pm & spoke to an Asian girl named Jamie. Had the $20 between the driver's license & credit card. Asked for a GO room but best she could do was a mini-suite on the 15th or the 28th floor. Got room # 15041 on 15th floor. Room was big w/2 chairs, couch, desk & separate room for king sized bed. I should have taken the 28th floor but view was of Imperial Palace instead of the pool view I got. I checked out the 28th floor & looked into some rooms and they were very similar to what I got on the 15th floor with the exception that I didn't get a USA today as if I was on the 28th. Good deal for $20!

No Dice For Almo at Flamingo...

tried the sandwich with an older woman. In retro I should have avoided her. She handed the $20 back to me immediately but offered a deluxe strip view for $20+ per night but she still wanted the tip afterwards. Uhhh, no. I ended up going back down after midnight to complain about a dripping shower and was able to be upgraded to a luxury go room for $27 per so that worked but the tip process failed. Lesson: look for 20-30 yo's as they are more likely to take the tip.

Jackpot! Kevin Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

Booked a standard room at the Flamingo with two guest beds. Did the usual routine and was offered an Executive Suite with a strip view on the top floor. The executive suite is marginally bigger than a normal room but the amazing view and top floor was worth the tip.

I found this website a few weeks prior to our trip and couldn't wait to try it. It worked like a charm!! We sandwiched the $20 in between our IDs and she seemed like she knew exactly what that was for. She just typed away for a few minutes and after a few minutes of not saying anything, we asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She told us she was checking that right now and continued typing again. Few minutes went by, and she told us she went ahead and upgraded us to their GO rooms and gave us coupon booklets and 2 for 1 show tickets! Will def. try this trick next time we go!!! :)

Jackpot! Joann Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

Used $50 for a 6 night stay & checking in on a Sat. I caught an earlier flight & was checking in @ 11am, but told her I would wait until it would be ready. I chatted her up & explained this was a big deal for my sister & I getting away without our families for the first time in 20 years.
The room was very large, King bed, couch, 2 armchairs, a small table & chairs for dining.
Hoping to be as successful in 2008 @ the Mirage.

Jackpot! Richard Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

I already had a steal of a deal, but I was hoping to get a larger suite. Instead, I got a "Go Room - Luxury" instead of a "Go Room - Deluxe". The only difference is that the "Luxury" rooms are on the upper floors and have a view of the Bellagio / Strip" view.

All in all.... I think it worked. I really tried to press to get something even better, but I was satisfied.

No Dice For Al at Flamingo...

Asked the clerk for about any complimentary upgrades and was offered the GO room for an extra $50/night. This was during the ASHP Convention, and with over 25000 guests, they may have run out of rooms. Who knows...

Got in line and lucked out with a young male rather than the older guy or the supervisor. Followed the standard approach and he checked the computer for a minute and then said he would be right back. He came back and said "I don't have any GO rooms but if you don't mind walking a little I can give you a mini-suite." Mini-suite was basically an oversized room but definitely served our entertainment needs. View of the pool. It was allllllll the way at the end of a looooong hallway though.

Jackpot! Justine Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

I was in the gold card line and was hoping to get one of the two 20 something boys that were at the desk but instead got Suzanne a late thirties/early forties woman. I slipped the 20 between the id and credit card and asked her if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She asked me if the $20 was for her and I said yes. She said she could give me a "mini-suite". I asked if it was updated and she said no. I asked about a Go room and she said she couldn't give one of those without a charge. We took the mini-suite. It was on the 12th floor and had a slight pool view. It was nicer than a normal room in that it had a separate room for the bed, tv and nightstands and then a living area with a couch, two chairs, table and another tv. Also had a small desk with a cheesy metal stand. Bathroom was old and shower/tub together. All in all, I guess it was an upgrade but not sure it was worth the $20.

No Dice For Mark at Flamingo...

Came in about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. A young fellow named Javier was at the desk. Did the 20 thing and he recognized it right away. Unfortunately the hotel was sold out for the weekend as they were getting guests from other Harrah's properties. He made what I thought was a good effort to find an upgrade for us. He was not successful and was very apologetic. Took the 20 back and thanked him for the effort. Wrong weekend.

Jackpot! Lisa Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

We were so excited when we arrived for our first trip to Vegas, not to mention extremely nervous about trying the Front Desk Tip trick. We walked up to the counter with huge grins and handed the clerk our sandwich while telling her our names. She looked at the $20 and said "why thank you...what kind of room are you looking for?" We were kind of unprepared to answer, so we simply said, "how about a good view..." The clerk smiled, left the counter, and when she came back we were upgraded to an executive suite on the 28th floor. Our view was Caeasar's Palace in front, Bellagio and her fountains to the left. The room was huge and had a sofa and recliner with floor to ceiling windows. We couldn't have asked for a better room. We were winning toward the end of our stay, so we extended 2 additional days. Did the tip a second time and were allowed to keep our same for the additional two days - comped. I love Las Vegas, and thank you Front Desk Tip!!!!

Jackpot! K Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

Checked in on 9/16, which was a sold out night. Did the $20.00 thing, and asked the clerk for a complimentary upgrade or a strip view as we were already assigned a pool view. She smiled, typed a bit, and found a strip view. She carefully explained that it was in a construction zone, and was prone to noise. Due to the sold out night, it was the best she could do. I declined that room because of the construction noise (we are usually up all night and sleep during the day). In an effort to make it up to us, she gave us plenty of good coupons for Harrah's properties, a special Flamingo CD, and alot of other goodies which equaled more than the $20. I felt like she made an excellent effort, and was not at all disappointed with the pool view that we chose.

Did the trick as per instructions. Said "we'd really like a Go room" was told they don't do comp upgrades to Go rooms (which kinda seems weird considering others on this site have managed to get them - it may have been that he was training someone). He had a chat with the manager and came up with a Mini Suite overlooking pool which is normally an extra $60 a night. I'm happy with that!

Got to desk a little before 3. Not much of a line. Took first available clerk. Gave her the sandwich and asked if there was a complimentary upgrade available. She asked what I wanted and she would check. I told her it was my first time in Las Vegas and what could she do for me. Got room on top floor across from Caesars. Could look down on volleyball and see Bellagio fountains to left and Mirage volcano to right. Would make a more specific request next time. She said would normally be $40 more and we stayed 4 nights so it was worth it.

No Dice For Intoxic8 at Flamingo...

How it Happened: Handed cc and id with $20 in each set so $40 in all, she saw the $20's and knew straight away what the crack was. she tapped away pocketed the money then said that you can have the top floor but they are working on the rooms the floor below round the clock and we might hear them working so she suggested floor 17, i just said ok 17th floor was high enough. but that bloody Toni Braxton window poster is a pain in the rear. the GO rooms are lovely the TV in the bathroom is a nice touch and the pink soft down lighting is a nice affect. the cd player in the room is really loud and surprisingly you couldnt hear it much when i went next door to my moms room. and the plama TV was great the carpet though was still the same stuff as last year, mabe they hadnt done the teh pets yet in the rooms as the hallways were all GO'd up with new jazzy carpet.

Jackpot! Steve Thunder Got A Flamingo Room Upgrade

We arrived at the Flamingo lobby around 10:30 AM and the check in line was very very long.
The word to everyone was the rooms would not be ready until 2PM due to getting all the rooms cleaned due to high turnover on sunday.
We figured theres no way the $20 trick was going to work but what the hell give it a shot!

We stepped up to the counter and were greeted by a conservative looking women in her late 30's. I asked right away ater sliding her my credit card and license with $20 tucked between if she thought it might be possible for a comp upgrade. She smiled and said how about an executive suite on the top 28th floor with a coffee maker and two double beds? I happily agreed and what a view!Waking up every morning looking out at the strip with view of Caesars-palace/"target="_blank">Ceasers and the Bellagio.Next time i'm going to shoot for a go room, although i believe they do not overlook the strip which is quite the experiance.
