Jackpot! Justin Mellor Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

Arrived at hotel around 2ish. There was no line so was able to check in straight away. We started the check in process as normal until she asked for my credit card and ID. I place a 20 in between the 2 and ask if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She said she would have to ask her manager. After returning she said that they do not do comp upgrades and that the best she could offer was a refurb room for $30 extra a night. Being prepared to upgrade to this room anyway I agreed but played my last card which was that it was my girlfriends 21st birthday. The woman didn’t seem impressed of my persistence however she claimed that it was also her birthday. She gave me back my $20 and place one invoice to the side and created what I can only assume was a new one.

Jackpot! woooord Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

Checked-in during the middle of the afternoon rush around 3:30pm on a holiday weekend (MLK Saturday). Clerk took $20, looked for an available room, and offered my an upgraded room with a view. only catch was that the bathroom was accessible, meaning rails along the wall, and no tub, just a larger stand-up shower. actually worked out better with larger space.

Jackpot! kit Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

Checked in around 9pm at VIP services. Asked for a comp upgrade and the clerk asked if it was my birthday, told him it wasn't and I just wanted a nice tv. He told me it was full till I placed the 20 on the table, he took another look and got me into a room with the plasma tv and a view.

To answer the person below, I don't think it matters if the original stay is a comp. I was staying on a 3 night comp.

placed $20 between DL&CC and placed on counter. he took the DL and saw the $20 on top of the CC and left it plain sight. I asked if there were any upgrades. He said "no, i'm sorry. i can't do anything for you, we're completely sold out. we are at 102% capacity." never took the $20 or touched my CC since the room was prepaid.

No Dice For amv at Excalibur...

Tried the $20 trick as described, had the bill sandwiched between creditcard and ID. Woman said no complimentary upgrades available. I wasn't sure if part of the issue was that I was staying there since I had a offer from Excalibur for 3 free nights and that's why she couldn't do anything. People never really say if they book with a free offer.

Jackpot! Ron Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

Told the clerk that it was my brother's 21st birthday (no lie) and asked if she could possibly give us a room with a view (as I handed her the cards/tip). She said she'd look. Went through the process. She didn't confirm one way or another, but did move the 20. Gave us our keys, wished us well. We went up to our rooms, pleasantly surprised. Probably the best gamble you can do in Vegas.

Husband slipped the 20 and asked if there was any upgrades for our anniversary. She went to talk to her manager and gave us a view of the pool and the new remodeled room with the 42" plasma. Worth it because my husband loved watching the sport channel.

Put the $20 in between the ID and the card and asked if any upgrades were available. She said she'd go ask, and when she came back, told us about the widescreen room for $20. I asked "per night?" and she covered her mouth and said, "no, I'm giving it to you free." She hadn't even seen the $20! When she did, she asked what it was for. She was so excited when I told her it was for her.

Jackpot! MRH Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

I reserved a standard room on the Excalibur website. When I checked in around 9 pm I handed the clerk my credit card and id with the $20.00 between. I asked for a complimentary upgrade and she said "Let me see what I can do." She came back and stated that she could upgrade me to a newly renovated room, with a plasma tv on a higher floor with a great view. She also gave me coupons for a free buffet, $25.00 off of a spa treatment and some other food coupons. I was staying at the Excalibur for 5 nights and the $20.00 tip was worth the price.

Jackpot! Ryan Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

My girlfriend and I booked a tower room at the Excalibur through a travel agent for 5 nights starting on August 18, 2007. We arrived at the hotel at around 10pm after a late flight, and was checked-in by a male clerk in his 30's. He DID NOT look too friendly, but I gave it a shot anyways, slipping a 20 between my ID and credit card. I asked if he had any complimentary upgrades. At first, he gave me this iffy look and kind of shook his head. But then he saw the $20. He then nodded and said "let's see what we can do". I ended up getting a jacuzzi room in Tower 2!

No Dice For elf at Excalibur...

Unfortunately the $20 trick failed to get me upgraded to a room with a Jacuzzi. The front desk clerk, Lisa, a rather attractive blonde, maybe 30ish, was very professional and knew the drill inside and out. She kept the $20 semi-obscured behind the counter but where I could still see it. She typed for a few minutes but could not find a room with a Jacuzzi. She did offer to give me of the hotel’s refurbished rooms with widescreen TV instead but I told her I didn’t care about the size of the room, the view, the décor, the distance from the elevator or the TV, just the Jacuzzi. She was a little disappointed but handed back the $20.

Jackpot! Wayne Got A Excalibur Room Upgrade

Checked-in around 10pm with a middle aged, slightly foreign woman. Said I was checking in, and she asked for ID. I had it ready, but fished in my pocket like I was finding it. In the meantime she asked for my name, which I gave, and then handed over $20 between the ID and CC. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She seemed uncertain as she was typing, but said she would check. She then picked up my ID to enter it in, and saw the 20. A slow smile crept across her face and she said "Oh! Thank you!". Doing my homework I knew that new rooms all had widescreens in them, so I said "Maybe something with a nice tv or something." She nodded and finished her typing, handing me keys. She then oddly lifted the bill up to head level in the open and thanked me several times.

No Dice For Cdn Boy!! at Excalibur...

Got in around 9:30pm and checked in. Tried the $20 between credit card and ID. Asked for any possible complementary upgrade. She smiled and said she would see what she could do. Asked her also to put the rest of the party that was arriving on the same floor in the same tower, she said no problem. There was no upgrade, and the rest of the people that showed up didn't tip got a nicer room, and in the other tower!
