We were called over to the next available clerk who was a young woman so didn't really get to choose who we went to. This was about 6pm on the Monday after a 10 hour flight from London. We had booked a Classic room with Expedia so tried the $20 sandwich and just asked if there was the possibility of a complimentary upgrade and sure enough she placed the $20 aside and got straight down to moving us to the Augusta Tower. We ended up with a room on the 44th floor overlooking the Bellagio fountains. The room had a Kingsize bed, Flatscreen TV the bathroom had a separate shower big enough for two a jacuzzi and there was even a TV in the bathroom. The room was huge. Overall we were well pleased. I'm sure the Classic room would have been perfectly adequate but this just made the trip even more memorable.

we arrived at the hotel around 2pm. i was worried about it being to early to try this as most people say to check in late. when it was my turn to check in we were helped by a friendly gentlemen. for got his name but he was pretty cool. He asked for the name on the reservation i told him and after that i asked him if there were any comp. room upgrades at the same time i gave him the 50 sandwich. He took it and said OK let me see what i can do for you. Im just going to put this right here (by the keyboard the 50.00 was in plain site) he said this will just be for my time entertaining you. then he started looking in the computer typing real fast and gave me two options. the agustus with a great view of the belliagio water show or a deluxe room in the palace towers. Well from me reading the older post that were on here i really wanted to stay in the augustus tower. So we and my wife discussed it and decided to go with the great view......ps i told this other couple that went with to try it and see what will happen... guess what they didnt. however they did get and upgrade in the palace tower deluxe room for 40.00 extra a night.... Now YOU reading this wont it hurt to try?

I didn't have a chance to target any clerk as there was a long line of people to check in at around 4:00pm on a Friday. The check-in clerk was very friendly and asked if I needed change for my $20. I told her no, but I was interested to know if they had any complementary upgrades. She checked the computer for awhile while making casual conversation and then booked us in a Palace Tower room with a tub, near the elevators and facing the pool. Although I'm not sure if the $20 was necessary for this basic upgrade, it sure made the process easier and made the clerk happy so it was worth it to me.

My wolfpack arrived for check-in around 9 o'clock Thursday night. We had been comped a Forum Tower Deluxe Room, but we wanted a bigger room for activities and strippers and tigers and stuff . We got a very friendly male desk clerk in his late 20's (who we were hoping for). He asked for my ID, so I slipped him the sandwich with a $50 bill in it, gave him a sexy wink and asked for any possible upgrades for rooms with some more space. He said "no problem" and typed away on the computer, with the sandwich still sitting on the counter. Speaking of sandwiches, I'm at work and I'm kinda hungry. After a minute or two, we were offered a choice between the Palace Tower "Petite Suite" or the Forum Tower Executive Suite. We took the smaller Petite Suite based on his recommendation, because it had two beds. The room was on the 14th floor, and had a view of the pools. It also had a walk-in shower and two connecting bathrooms, which was cool even though we had to see each other's wieners the whole trip. The friendly clerk pocketed the $50, thanked us and also gave us some tips about clubs and bars, which we ignored because we wanted to go see boobies. Though we probably should have taken the bigger Executive Suite, it was still a successful room upgrade. And we had a great time in Vegas! Especially my friend Don because he had so many boobs in his face I thought he was gonna suffocate. Thanks Front Desk Tip!

I arrived on a Wednesday around 7pm and there was no line waiting to check-in. I approached an available male desk agent and handed him my ID and credit card with $100 in between. I asked for a complimentary upgrade and he said "certainly, let me see what's available." He told me off the bat that he couldn't get me a suite, but he could get me a junior suite. I was sharing the room with my friend so we needed two beds. After booking the room he was very appreciative of the tip. You could tell this wasn't anything new for him. He also threw in some nightclub passes and called up to our room 15 minutes later to make sure everything was ok. The room was amazing complete with two bathrooms and a jacuzzi tub.

We were taking my in-laws to Vegas for the 1st time. We booked 2 classic room through an airline vacation package. As we got to the hotel, I was so nervous I couldn't remember the word "complimentary". We checked in about 5pm in the evening, there was no line only a couple of people in front of us. There were 4 male clerks and 3 females. We decided to pick the male clerk who looks really friendly about late 20 early 30. Went up to him, smile and said something like hi, how are you... we have a reservation under LASTNAME and as he was looking us up on the computer I said "and we were wondering if you wouldn't happen to have any accomo-mentary upgrades available... something in the Augustus tower ... " and strategically placed the $50 sandwich next to his keyboard just enough hidden so that he can see it. Thought that I totally messed it up but he understood what we wanted. He quickly slipped the 50 in his pocket and said, "let me see what I can do for you" and typed away so fast, then said "I got you a beautiful room with a really nice view of the Bellagio fountain," with those words, I was floored. It was so worth it, $50 for 2 rooms upgrade. 35th floor deluxe room with marble bath, I think it was about 1030 sq ft. What a vacation it was.

We checked in about 2:00 PM on a Sunday, we were already comped for 5 nights in the forum tower (we had never stayed at Caesars-palace/"target="_blank">Ceasers before) comps came from other harrah properties. I asked nicely if there were any complimentary upgrades with a $50 bill, she smiled and immediately got us a room in the Augusta tower over looking the bellegio fountains with a spa tub, separate toilet, shower and double sinks, it was a awesome stay. Thanks Caesars-palace/"target="_blank">Ceasers.

I checked in around 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday. I had to wait on line to check-in. After reading the tips on here I was glad I got a young guy clerk. I was a little nervous about the $20 sandwhich but figured what the heck - it's worth a shot. I said Hi and was friendly to him. He asked for my ID and credit card and I already had my $20 sandwhich prepared. I slid it onto the counter and at the same time asked: "Is there any chance for a complimentary upgrade?" He looked at me and then looked down at the counter, saw the $20 sandwhich and said, "Well, let me see what I have." He then proceeded to give me a Deluxe Room in the Augustus Tower - jacuzzi tub, huge marble bath, couch, coffee table, flat screen tv in the both the main area and the bathroom, king bed, cozy robes, upgraded linens, great view of the strip too! I LOVED MY ROOM! The $20 sandwhich worked like a charm! I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

Well I came to check in at around 1:30pm and for some reason there were no young male clerks and there was no line. Finally one young male starts right as we get in line but sadly we couldn't get him because there was no line and we got called up by a female clerk who looked in her mid to late 20's. Made some small talk and then handed her a 50 with it poking out just a little so she could see it right when she took it from my hand. As I handed it to her I asked if there were any complimentry upgrades and she handed back the 50 and said "No sorry" but said she could give us a discount for another room. I proceeded to tell her that it was my first time to vegas and that myself and my gf were celebrating her getting into medical school. Finally after I asked if it's possible to get something in the fourm tower and she gave us something in the top floor with a view of the strip. So I just took it since something is better for nothing and plus it was free!

Checking in on a Friday night for a 2-night stay, I had booked an incredible rate on the Caesars website. The rate was $80 per night (on a Friday and Saturday night, no less), including a full-day pass for 2 at Qua spa (which was incredible!) and a $75 buffet pass. The room was an old, bottom-tier "Classic room," but at just $80 with all those extras, how could I pass on it?!
I was directed to a cheerful looking young man for check in. I discreetly included a $20 bill with my driver's license and credit card, told him I really appreciate him working on a Friday night, and said I would greatly appreciate any complimentary upgrades he may have available. I told him that even if no such upgrades were available, I wanted him to keep the tip in appreciation of him working a Friday night. He thanked me warmly and offered me my choice of a couple different upgrades. I chose a huge Palace Tower premium room overlooking the pool, with a jacuzzi tub and other exquisite touches. A $240 upgrade for the two nights simply for showing the clerk a little appreciation and relatively inexpensive tip. He told me that if I didn't like the room, or had any other needs, to contact him directly. Very nice!

Checked in early around 12:30. We are two younger girls and were a little nervous to try the "sandwich." Since we were staying 4 nights we put a $30 DL, CC sandwich and handed it over. We smiled and asked nicely do you have any complimentary upgrades? The guy was a little scary at first because he was older and we weren't sure if it would work. But once he started talking he was very nice. He told us it was very busy this weekend and that the only room available was the palace tower and on the 27th floor. We had booked the hangover package so we still got all of our bonuses and ended up with a great room worth over $1300 total for our 4-night stay! Thanks so much! IT WORKED!

My wife and I went to Caesars-palace/"target="_blank">Caesar's with another couple and were meeting a third couple there. We arrived at about 3:30pm and had to stand in a LONG line to wait to check in. It gave us time to size up the front desk people and think who we would like to get, but we knew full well it would be the luck of the draw. When we arrived at the front of the line we were called forward by a gentleman who looked to be in his mid-30s (he was actually one we hoped not to get!). Both us and the couple with us approached the desk and started a little small talk, then we put down our $20 sandwiches and asked if there were any "complimentary" upgrades available. He checked the computer, then stated that the third couple with us had already arrived and asked that we have rooms close together, and they had not elected to upgrade. We thought we were sunk then, but he stated "let me see what I can do." After tapping away at his computer for a minute he said that he could put us in "the Grand Suite" on their floor and asked the other couple checking in with us if they minded being on a different floor. Of course they didn't mind.
The room is called the grand suite because it has a grand piano in it. It was very spacious and had so many doors in it we actually had trouble finding the bedroom! The room was a little dated and had no view because they had built one of the new towers directly behind it, but all in all was a terrific room and a GREAT upgrade for $20!

Checked in around 10 pm, there was little to no line. I handed her my DL and CC with a $50 in between. We were ther for 5 nights so I thought a $20 wasn't enough. She grinned and asked if we were looking for an upgrade. She had to make a phone call and move someone around but we got a great upgrade. When she asked us how we were, we made sure to mention it was our first trip alone since our twin were born.

After reading this site, we approached a young male who appeared to be in his late 20's / early 30's. It was about 11:00 PM on a weekday, which may have helped. We said that we had heard that if there are rooms available, sometimes it's possible to get a free upgrade, and asked if that might be possible. He looked through the computer a bit, and initially offered us a Forum tower room, which he said was about the same quality, but had been renovated moor recently. He then told us that we could upgrade to a Palace or Augustus Tower room for $60 extra. We thought about it while he continued to look through the computer, then he decided that he could give us the Palace Tower Room, on the 24th floor, for free also. Of course, that's the one we took. We thanked him profusely, handed him the $20 (which had been laying on the counter in front of us), and then waiting another minute while he got us free VIP passes to PURE and the pool club.

4 night/5 day stay, Sat - Wed, Checked in about 3:00PM, the line was long so we had time to size up the clerks. We had 4 in our room- 2 of us put in $15, the other 2 put in $10. So we approached the desk with a $50 bill in hand. We decided to try it out with whichever clerk we got (except for this one guy with a white jacket, he looked like a supervisor or manager). It's only by CHANCE that we got the clerk we preferred (if choosing was an option)- a young, tall guy who off of appearance alone was much more charismatic with his customers than the other clerks were, more especially the female ones who seemed to never look up from the computer. I booked a standard room on Expedia. I can't remember if it was the Palace or Forum Towers but I approached the desk knowing exactly what I wanted- and that was to be in the AUGUSTUS TOWER! First words out of my mouth were 'Hey man, how's it going?' he said, 'Great, what name is the room booked under?' I told him the name and said, 'Is there any chance you could get us into the Augustus Tower?' He smiled/smirked when he saw the $50 (which was purposely NOT sandwiched) and said something to the effect of 'Look at you guys and your tricks' and was immediately motivated to see what he could do for us. The $50 was not concealed in any way- he left it laying out next to his keyboard and was very friendly while tapping furiously at his keyboard. Don't bother having anxiety about the transaction because it was apparent immediately that this is common practice. He said we were early, which was good- but finding a room with 2 queens might make it difficult. He asked if we minded a smoking room, since that was the best he had available looking at the computer. None of us smoke or have a high tolerance for people who do so I asked 'How bad is it?' He said, 'In AUGUSTUS- not bad at all.' He was right- the only difference between that room and a non smoking room was the ashtray in the room- it didn't smell of smoke at all!! We were on the 26th floor, right next to the elevator. This turned out to be VERY convenient since the elevators were quiet and there was minimal traffic if any on our floor. In 5 days I don’t think I ever saw anyone besides housecleaning in the hallways. The room was extremely spacious with an amazing bathroom which included a TV, Jacuzzi, separate toilet, etc. Last but not least our view was of the Strip and Bellagio Fountains which served as a great backdrop throughout our stay. Higher floors might’ve had a tad better view- but there is something to be said for being the first off the elevator every time you get on with 4-5 other guests. Long story short- it was easily the best money that me or my friends spent while in Vegas!!

I got into Vegas around 7:30pm with next to no line at check in. I saw one guy that was in his mid twenties that I was hoping to get (knowing they are the most likely to help). I ended up with a female about the same age. I made a little small talk then handed the sandwich over and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades I could get, including the Obama villa. She looked for about 10 minutes and was able to up grade us to the Augustus Tower with a great room of the fountains. Great success!

Just heard about this site prior to going to Vegas. Had the wife with me on a business trip, so I wanted to try this out. The clerk took the sandwich and put the 20 to the left of his keyboard while he searched - typed on his keyboard for about 3 minutes.
Ended up with a regular sized room, bit it had an upgraded bathroom witha whirlpool. He said this room would usually be a $139 per night upgrade from the room I booked. Good deal for the $20.

I booked an air and hotel package through Allegiant Air from Colorado Springs. It was a classic room, and upon check-in, the desk clerk said it was in the Forum Tower. I did the $20.00 trick and explained that the conference was in the Palace Tower and that I could not do a lot of walking due to a back injury. In a few seconds, he offered me a mini suite in the Palace Tower on the 20th floor. It was 700 sq. ft. and just beautiful with a view of the pool and partial strip view. To get to the pool, I just took the elevator down to the Casino level and walked out the door. Best $20.00 I ever spent! The room was gorgeous and had two bathrooms and a jacuzzi. Bedding was a dream, and the room also had a sofa and desk/ with mini bar and every amenity you could name. When I checked in, there was almost no one around, and most of the conference members weren't checking in until the next day, so I got lucky. I would definitely recommend the $20 trick to anyone who wants a good room.
