Walked in to the lobby and looked for the right clerk, one who appeared friendly and talking to the customer. Found one and waited. When asked for my credit card and ID hand over the sandwich any she began typing away, she didn't even appear to see the twenty. After several minutes I asked if there were any complementary upgrades and she said she was checking. She left for a minute and when she returned she said that she was able to get me into a lake view room. She handed me back my information and the $20. I handed back the tip and thanked her. The view was amazing and the fountain/strip view at night never got old while I was in the room.

No Dice For IB at Bellagio...

Checked in on a very busy weekend around 4pm. Slipped the clerk the $20 sandwich. He noticed it right away and turned it back and forth as if showing a camera. He offered me a few options within the standard rooms (smoking, non smoking) and I asked if there was anything with a fountain view. He was extremely apologetic and said he would love to help me if he could, but they were all booked. Returned the sandwich back to me and was extremely polite, but it was a failure.

No Dice For Tom at Bellagio...

Checked in at the Bellagio around noon. As I applied the $20 trick the reservationist mention that a comp. should not be a problem and proceeded to give us a room with an outstanding view of the fountains. Had hoped for a suite of some kind, since I was celebrating my 50th. But we still loved the room that we received.

Had Id/$20/CC ready to go in my wallet, handed them to the clerk and before I could ask she said she could get me on a high floor with a fountain view. Also, the room was in the north wing away from the construction.

Jackpot! CC Got A Bellagio Room Upgrade

got there at 11am and after standing in line for a few minutes, a female in her early 30s opened a new line. We were just checking to see if we could check in early (confirmation said check-in was 3:30pm) she said that she had a nice room available with a pool view. I aksed her if they had any sort of possible upgrades and she replied that they were $50/night for a lakeview room. after typing for a while, she repeated that it would be $50/night. we both gave her a disappointed look and asked if there was anything else that she could do. she smiled and said, "you mean a complimentary upgrade?" and I nodded. after typing for a few minutes, she said that she would give us the lakeview room and that she would waive the fee. we thanked her and slipped her a $20 as she handed my ID/CC. the room was awesome. 24th floor, right in the middle of the fountains. I'm so glad I found this website!!

Actually gave my licence and credit card first and then put down the 20 and asked if there were any complimentary room upgrades. He seemed like he had been through this many times before and said it should not be a problem, after he offered the lake/fountain view which is great, he asked since that I was very generous to him if there was anything else he could do so I asked for a buffet line pass. That was also no problem and worth the 20 alone since that line up would have taken over an hour. Great hotel, will be back.

I bet $20 would have worked, but I slapped $40 in the sandwich, since we were there on a 4 night vacation. I asked for a tub w/ jets, was offered a lake view room (no jets) or one w/ the bath as requested. Ended up being upgraded from a standard room to a corner "suite" (suite was printed on the door, although room looked pretty standard to me). front desk clerk acted like it was everyday business to get tipped for comped upgrades. Success!

Checked in early at around 12 noon on a Sunday. Handed over the sandwich (I normally hold onto the $20 and hand it over if successful, but took the tip from this board to do the sandwich) and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available.

The clerk said, "I'm sure there are!" Tapped away and said we had been allocated a lake view room on the 20th floor. I was just delighted as we were already on a promo rate of $179.

Thanks to all on this forum.

Gave the tip to the clerk (mid 20's asian female), and explained that me and my fiancee were getting married that weekend. (Seemed like she may have upgraded us because of that, even without the tip, but she didn't refuse it after asking if it was for her.) The clerk upgraded us from a standard room to a deluxe fountain view room on top of the Spa Tower, which was great! Definitely worth the $20.

Jackpot! Thankful Got A Bellagio Room Upgrade

I read several responses and felt prepared to give it a try. Was Kinda' nervious but thought, "I'm in Vegas lets gamble a little." I approached the counter with $20 between my DL and CC, presented it and asked if I could get a comp. upgrade because of my anniversary (really was). "The Associated" was extremely nice and helpful! "The Associate" typed on the computer and spoke on the phone for a bit. The Associate placed the $20 on the counter in front of us, and I was advised that there was a deluxe fountain view non-smoking king room available, but approval was needed get the room released. I waited about an hour before the room was ready. I located the room on the 25th floor directly in front of the fountain with an outstanding view of the strip. I also recieved a restaurant pass to the Buffet and Cafe Bellagio, which allows you to go to the front of the line. We were extemely pleased with the room. Channel 31 on the television allows you to hear the music while watching the fountain show. Just a little advise. If you can't get a room upgrade, it's worth the price of admission to get the Buffet pass alone. That line is unbelievably long! My stay at Bellagio was exceptional!! From "The Associate" to the maid staff. It was top notch.

I was blown away . We checked in on Sunday Sept. 23rd for our 40th anniversary . We had already booked a deluxe lake front I thought I would try the $20.00 tip. I gave her my licence a twenty dollar bill and my credit card. I explained to her why we were in Vegas . I also asked her if there was a chance for an upgrade maybe even a suite. This very nice lady looked at her computer and then said she would be right back. I was a little nervous. We were going to be there for two days. Well she came back and said she was goiung to give us the Belligo suite but it did not face the strip. Then she floored me by saying that none of the suites that were avaialable faced the front or the strip. Well my wife looked very sad and I said we would keep the lake view room. Now here is the good part. Our lady then said with a smile 40 years huh ? How about if I put you two in our VIP suite that only a select few use. Iasked her what it was like and she smiled and said why do'nt you go see for youself.

We went up tp 15001 and walked right into heaven. For the next several minutes all we said was ALL MY GOD over and over again. First off it had a doorbell on the outside. Now as you went in it had an electronic DO NOT DISTURB sign. It was 1550 sq. ft. It had two full size bathrooms and two large tvs in the living room and a portable color tv in each bathroom. The living room had electronic drapes. The best part. As you opened the drapes the view took your breath away. You had a 90 degree view of the strip and the lake. Now straight across you was the Paris and to the left you could see as far down as the Imperial Palace. Now to the right you could see the M.G.M. Grand. Finally in each bathroom you had a 60 degree view of the strip. All for using the twenty dollar tip.

I did exactly the process explained here and it worked very well. The clerk was very friendly and gave me a few seconds after a wonderful lake view on a high floor.

For information (dunno if this makes any difference), I booked my stay using the Bellagio website.

No Dice For parrotnj at Bellagio...

I had originally booked a Deluxe room and was going to chance the Lakeview upgrade to the $20 trick, but as we got closer to the trip I realized that I really really really wanted a Lakeview Room, so I decided it was better to fork over the extra $50 per night ahead of time on my reservation to make sure I had it. I still wanted to try the $20 upon check-in just for the fun of it to see what else I could get. I imagined the next 'upgrade' would be to a suite, but what I got was a "newly renovated" Deluxe Lakeview w/2 Queen beds on Floor 30. I think the "newly renovated" was the upgrade that my $20 bought me. It was in fact a gorgeous room with new everything (carpet, furniture, flat-screen, bedding etc...) but I think I would've enjoyed a regular lakeview room just as much. When I realized the word "suite" wasn't in the clerk's description of the room (disappointed) I asked for Line Passes to the buffet which she gladly handed over. (my consolation prize).
When I got home from my trip I checked out the Bellagio website, and it looks like all of the suites are with King Beds only. Since I requested 2 Queens beds (3 people in room) it looks like I had a zero-shot of getting a suite to begin with. Looking at some of the other reports here, it appears that other non-room upgrades pple have gotten for the $20 are Bellagio parfum sets, and food comps. I didnt think to inquire about those at the time, but I was happy with the Line passes at least.
