No Dice For Kevin at Bellagio...

My wife didn't believe in this trick so I ended up with what appeared to be a very stoic and unpleasant clerk. She turned out to be a sweetie-pie so we chatted for a bit. I did the same thing everyone else does and she took the $20 and mentioned that they were pretty full but she'd check.
She handed back the $20 along with my key and said nothing about it but we ended up with a center lakeview room on the 15th floor which I was happy about. Not sure if this WAS an upgrade and just not as much of an upgrade as she was willing to take money for or what but I was not disappointed with this first visit to Bellagio.

Checked in around noon on a Thursday. Looked for an available young female desk clerk and chatted her up while she looked up my Expedia reservation. She asked for my license and credit card, so I handed her the "sandwich" and asked if there were any upgrades available. She smiled and said "Let me ckech". I scored a nice suite on the 18th floor with a lake view. Also threw in a couple of buffet passes as well. Worked like a charm!

We got to the hotel on Thursday afternoon, about 3:00 pm. It wasn't too busy, but all of the clerks had customers. We walked the line once looking for someone who looked friendly. I decided on a woman who looked to be about 28-30 and very friendly. I slipped her the $20 sandwich and asked about any upgrades. This was obviously not her first sandwhich. She was very smooth. She said, "Ok. Let me see what I can do." Even though I was looking directly at her I barely saw her take the $20 out and set it behind her monitor. She tapped on her keyboard for about 2 minutes, then told us she needed to talk to her supervisor so she could get the 2 rooms close together on the same floor. (As we were waiting we noticed the clerks on either side were a little lacking in the friendly department, so we dodged a bullet there as I don't think they would've upgraded us.) She was gone for about 3 minutes, came back and we had 2 lakeview rooms right in the middle of the lake with amazing views. 2 rooms would've been a several hundred dollar upgrade, so $20 was more than worth it. She didn't pocket the $ until she was sure she could get us what we wanted.

Booked online for $90.25...Thursday check-in...$20 sandwich didn't work the first time...said I'd check in at a later time... Came back late evening, and asked for complimentary upgrade. Clerk went to the back to check, came back out with an almost center lake view room. Money well spent.

arrived around 3.30pm no real queue to check in, just one person in front mostly. friendly looking young chap called me over, slipped $50 (staying for 5 nights) inbetween passport (i'm from uk) and cc, and asked if there was any complimentary upgrades? he immeadiately put the money on the desk and said he'd see what he could do for me, around 20-30 secs later he asked if we'd like a smoking or non smoking room. i said it would have to be non. there were no fountain view rooms availible in non smoking (my m8 also checked in at same time, he also tried the trick, he was also told that any fountain view rooms would have to be smoking, no problem for him so he got his fountain view for $50), i was offered a partial fountain view room or a king tower deluxe, went to the partial view room, but it stunk of smoke, so went back to the lobby, made sure i found the SAME clerk, explained the issue, and he gave us cards to the tower deluxe, and said i wouldnt be dissapointed. bigger room, great view of the Rio from the bath tub (with jacuzzi) and good pool view from the other side window. very light room, (my m8's seemed a little dark.) didnt spent much time in the room, (who does in vegas!!) but considering how much money you spend in 5 days in vegas, definately worth $50, would do it again, maybe with $100 and go for a suite!
give it a go!! what do you have to lose?

Checked in very late in a weekday night. We booked TWO standard rooms on the internet, and we were hoping to get the rooms with fountain view. Hand in $50 between the credit card and ID, and the clerk smiled and started typing. I didn't even bother to say a word. Then she offered us a room with fountain view right in the middle of the fountain, and a room with panoramic view and hot tub. Fantastic views on both rooms. I will definitely do this trick again next time.

We already had reservations for three days at the Bellagio in one of their Lakeview rooms. Well as we checked in I had put a twenty dollar bill between my credit card and my drivers licence. Now as the clerk took it I also mentioned it was our 40th. anniversary and that is why we picked the Bellagio. I then asked by chance if there were any upgrades to a more deluxe room. The clerk smiled and typed on her computer and then asked my wife (with a smile ) if I had been a good husband for all those years. My wife smiled back and said WELL MOST OF THE TIME. The clerk then gave my wife the envelope with the door passes and said I AM SURE YOU WILL LIKE THIS ROOM. Well we had no idea what to expect until we found the room numbers on this door that read Cypress Suite . IT WAS BIG AND BOY WAS IT BEAUTIFUL. The best part was that we had a hugh front window that went from the left side all the way down to the right sie and we had a panoramic view of the strip . It was well worth the extra twenty dollars I gave her.

Jackpot! Sam Got A Bellagio Room Upgrade

Check in on a Monday evening (about 5pm Vegas time). It was crowded but not too bad. I was assigned to a young man but he was having trouble with a group of men in front of us so a manager was brought in to help. I decided to change lines since a manager was present. I switched to a lovely young woman (I won't get too descriptive to protect her), handed her a $50 sandwich and said "could we get something with a nice view?". She saw the tip and said "thank you" and did a quick room check. She gave us a room on the 25th floor with a dead center view of the strip and the fountain show. My wife was so thrilled. She also called and had our bags sent to the room so that we didn't have to.
The other 2 couples that we came with did not do the sandwich trick. One got a room on the 4th floor with a view of a rooftop. The other got a room on the 21st floor of the spa tower with a view of the parking lot. Did I feel successful? Yes! Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!

Checked in at about 5PM on a Monday. Handed the sandwich to the clerk and asked for any complimentary upgrades. He hid the cash very well and started typing away. He asked, "How would you like something with a view?" and I quickly accepted. Got upgraded to a Lakeview room on the 28th floor (top floor of non-suite rooms) with a great view of the fountains and strip. Lakeview rooms are typically $50 more a night, so I got a $150 value for $20. Yet another successful $20 upgrade!

Let me just start off by saying I would gladly stay for a week at the Aladdin than another night at the Bell-Crappio. I should have turned around immediately when I was treated really badly by the front desk and all staff. My second warning should have been that the place is TEEMING with white trash. I guess words out tha' this sho is a faaancy place with lotsa lights. My room at first glance looked ok, until I began noticing wierd smells. Isn't this hotel supposed to have a good reputation?, I asked my husband, so we dove in and tried it. Boy were we wrong. Call me crazy, but barf stains in the closet?!? It looked like someone had spot cleaned it, but didn't do anything to get rid of the stench. My husband and I are very religious and the fact that the TV would not change from the porn channel made us very uncomfortable.
We had to complain at least twice, within an eight hour span, for them to remedy this situation. After seeing a good show and gambling a bit we were ready to go to sleep...and thus began our night of terror. We came back to find someone had taken a dump, yes a poo, in our toilet and didn't flush!!! We were the only ones staying there and hadn't even used the facilities! I had to complain. It was so gross. They moved us after making us wait for like 2 hours (it was 11pm) by now. We were not treated like hotel guests at any point during out stay, at the prices they were charging you would think they would give their staff a lesson in customer service. Our biggest mistake was moving rooms. I should have just flushed the toilet. There was this really odd Mexican/Hindu guy at the end of the hall, who did not appear to be an employee, yet he was there all the time. I think he had something to do with the constant traffic of "young ladies" going in to that room. Our room: The shower drain was almost clogged with pubes. We were so tired we decided just to go to bed. We felt something squishy around our toes, I pulled back the covers to find a USED condom snugly tucked in bed with us.Gross!!!!The sound of some woman next door humping all night wasn't too cool either. When we complained about the service, the staff kind of shrugged. We immediately checked out the next morning, we were supposed to stay for another 4 nights, but decided to take our business to the MGM-grand/"target="_blank">MGM Grand where we were treated just great. NEVER AGAIN. Can't wait to see how the Bellagio decrepitates over time.

No Dice For JimBob at Bellagio...

Put the $20 between my credit card and ID and asked if they had any complimentary upgrades. The clerk told me that he couldn't do anything. I replied really others have been able to before. (I've never tried at Belligo before but have done so at other strip hotels with success before.) He replied well times have changed and laid my cards along with the $20 back on the counter. He did say he could upgrade me to a room with view of the fountains for $45 per night which I declined.

The clerk who took my tip smiled and said that he would absolutely be able to do something for me. A couple of minutes later I was sitting and watching the fountains from my room. Not bad for $10 extra a night. So despite the moron (Bellagio clerk) who keeps spamming this site, the tip works perfectly.

No Dice For Justin A at Bellagio...

Checked in on the 11th of march, this was my first stay at the Bellagio, i have done the 20.00 tip trick dozens of times at other hotels, so i didnt know what to expect here, i stood in the line with what appeared to be the friendliest looking clerk.
She was indeed friendly, she looked and said it looked pretty full(i questioned her beings it was a wednesday), she said that she would ask a manager, i was starting to sweat wondering what on earth she was thinking, she came back and said nothing sorry, but she did suggest i could come back in a few hours because it was still early(i checked in at noon), so i did come back in a few hours and went to her line again, she told me nothing had changed but i could try the next day if i wanted, i came down and asked a different girl who was working, with no tip, and she said nothing was available for the weekend.
so strike 3 i gave up and stuck with my smaller room i initially booked, at least it had a great view but i booked that so it was no bonus!
PS
I took my 20.00 back when she told me nothing was available, it was still on the counter under my id. i dont think she expected to take it if is she couldnt help me

No Dice For Robert at Bellagio...

checked in at 10:00am, which is EARLY. Gave her the $20 and asked her if there were any complimentary upgrades available and told her the $20 was for her effort, she checked, indicated that there _were_, but that they were not lakeview (our reserved suite had a lakeview) so we kept our original room, but she did let us check in at that hour, which was a bonus.

Most of the time during our past three or four visits, the hotel room has not been available (which is bad) so they've had to move us to a different room than we reserved.

After a short wait, I presented myself to the next clerk and his eye's lit up when I put the $40 in the sandwich. That dissappeared immediately. He said I was lucky as there was just a cancellation and that I would like the room. He was right, it was just the thing. The view was perfect and my wife was impressed that for a quick $40 we could get such a nice room.
