I called ahead to find out how much it would be to upgrade our not-so-awesome-view Salone Suite to a view of the fountains. This was our first trip to Vegas and it was also our anniversary. I was told that I could book the room with the better view for $200 extra. I said 'No, thank you,' and thought we would take our chances on this trick (we had already spent an insane amount because we had to go and have our anniversary be on a holiday weekend).

I had the $20 sandwich pre-prepared and when we checked in I calmly and sweetly told the woman at the desk that it was our first time in Vegas and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She took the $20 and set it in front of her and was on the phone for about 20 minutes so we weren't sure if it was going to work or not. Turns out we got an amazing room with a view of the fountains and we loved it. Good luck, everyone!

I walked into the Bellagio around 3:30 PM to check in. I was greeted by a woman and walked over to a short line. The available desk person was then a man of his early 30's. I had prepared the "$20 sandwich" while waiting in line. The gentleman asked for my ID and credit card and I handed the sandwich to him. With his thumb, he pushed the two cards apart to reveal the $20 and at that time I asked "Do you have have any complimentary upgrades available?" He replied," Let me see what I can do?"
A couple of keystrokes later he had upgraded me with a room smack in the middle over the looking the Bellagio lake. Had to be one of the best views in the hotel. I never saw him magically make the $20 disappear. It was brilliant. I've told everyone I know about the website and "$20 sandwich!"

No Dice For K at Bellagio...

I went with a young asian looking girl. I put the $20 in between my cc and id and put it in the counter. I asked for a complimentary suite upgrade she quickly responded that all the suites were fully book. She also said that she didn't even have a fountain view room. I said thanks and got my money back from the sandwich

Checked in around noon on Saturday. Gave the clerk the dr lic cc and $50, ask if any fountain view available as it was our anniversary (it was) He said he would check but he wasn't sure, that the fountain view suites were limited, but he called someone and we got the upgrade.. Since I know the Fountain view Bellagio suites go for $100 a night more than the non view, the $50 tip for 4 nights was well worth it... Plus we got line passes... and had an awesome time...

Didn't pick the clerk was told who to go to by a greeter at the front desk.
approximate check in at 1:00 pm.

I asked if it was possible to be upgraded to front of the hotel and she asked if fountain view was ok. Also received line pass and the hotel was sold out.

checked in middle of the day . fight weekend,
really busy. $50 sandwich. seemed to try
really hard , initally offered salone suite for
$100 per night. declined looked hard again.
and came up with spa tower ,lake and view
to eiffel tower. loved the spa tower, lovely walk
and chocolate fountain,gardens instead of
smoky casino. were travelling with large group of people and no one else did trick.
very few others got lake view so I think it
worked. Bellagio was magnificent !!!

Was directed to clerk at approx. 1:45pm and just slipped the sandwich to her. Asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. They were very booked up but she checked with supervisor, came back and gave us a room on the 20th floor overlooking the fountains. She volunteered front line passes.
So glad I saw this site before I went to Vegas, it was well, well worth the $50 to have the view we had. It really made our trip!

After reading the site, I decided to try the sandwich. Since I would be in town for 5 nights (one was a Saturday) I thought the $50 would be best. Got in line and just when it was my turn they switched from a young lady to a young man which I thought would be great. But, as the new younger male stepped forward a superviser was right behind him.
Anyway, when asked for my name I slide my id and credit card with the $50 sticking out. I asked if they had any upgrades.
The clerk placed the $50 on the counter and said "what did you have in mind" my response was the Belliago Suite or another suite.
He looked for a second and then said they didn't have any Belliagos but he did have a Jr. Suite. He then slide the $50 back to me and said that it wasn't needed. After he assigned my room, I asked if he had any line passes or spa passes. He said certainly and gave me a line pass for the entire stay. He asked if he could do anything else and I said no and as I was leaving I handed him a $20 tip for his help.
He was very very helpful and certainly worth the tip.

I checked in at around 9pm on a Thursday. I went to a young guy who was smiling with the patrons he was helping at the time. Besides the smiling I also liked that he was kind of farthest to the end with a column blocking from the clerk next to him. When me and my bestfriend walked up I greeted him with a big smile and slipped a 20 sandwich. He smiled and I knew I had him. He then asked if it was our first time staying at the Bellagio and I said infact we were both there for the first time for our birthdays(which was true). Ironically, he was also originally from the same state as we were and what's even more crazy was his birthday was the exact same day as mines. He even showed me his ID to prove it! At that point he slipped me two room keys to a Spa Suite on the 28th floor(this required a private elevator access). My bestfriend and I were ecstatic at the view from our room. Even better was I never told anyone of the 20 sandwich trick as I stumbled on this page a week before going. My other friends who got standard rooms were very jealous for the rest of the trip. Thank you for making my Birthday trip extra special!

No Dice For Dave at Bellagio...

Checked in around 10-11pm on a Friday night during rodeo time (busy weekend). Got a nice 40-ish lady. Handed her the sandwich with a $100 inside. She promptly took the hundred, placed it on her counter, and said, "what did you have in mind?". I replied "cypress", she replied that would be difficult. Typed away for a bit, responded she had nothing. I replied, I'll take something without a view. Some more typing, "sorry, if I could give you something nice, I would, but I have nothing". She returned the $100. Then stated, what I might be able to do is a connecting room to one of the suites. I tipped her a $20. Put me in the spa tower, on a high suite floor, with fountain view. Unfortunately, it was non-smoking. One call to the front desk later, I am put in a normal spa room, mountain view. I guess the spa tower may be considered an upgrade from the normal tower, but the nicer room is negated by the long walk to the elevators.
