I did not target anyone in particular.I wraped $20.00 around my credit card and simply asked the clerk straight up if he had any room upgrades. He just smiled and said he would see what he could do.It took about 30 seconds and gave us a mini suite. I said thank you and he said the same.It was noon time and there was only two people ahead of us. Great experince at Ballys.

No Dice For Larry Montango at Bally's...
|
|
| |
|
Arrived at Bally's about 4pm on Sunday, which so happened to be NASCAR Weekend in Las Vegas. When I got to the front of the line, I was called over by an older front desk clerk. When I presented the sandwich, I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She immediately told me no, and was quite curt and rude about it. I told her in the reservation notes, the casino host previously requested an upgrade for me, should one be available. I told her to look at the notes and she said I could be upgraded to a Jr. Suite for 50% more ($100 room the first night for $150, and a $60 room for $90 the second night). I passed and then mentioned I was supposed to get a coupon book upon arrival with over $1000 in offers for Harrahs properties. She was rude and said..."I guess you were told a lot of things". At this point I got pissed and said I would like to cancel my reservation and go elsewhere. She said I would be billed for the first night regardless. I told her I wanted to speak to the front desk manager, who was standing right next to her at the time (I didn't realize this til this point). He reached under her computer desk and pulled out the coupon book for me. Not so much as an apology. I said I would spend the night and decide what I wanted to do the the next day, when I was informed should I leave early, I would be charged $50. They got me coming and going. After my run in with this front desk clerk, I went upstairs to my smoking king, only to find I was in a non smoking double room with a view of a cement wall. I immediately went back downstairs to the Platinum Check In and spoke with a different clerk. She apologized and cheerfully gave me a room on the 25th floor with a king bed. I go the room, which seemed nice, only to have a tile fall off the wall while I was going to the bathroom. I decided not to say anything, went to the casino to gamble. By the way, if you're going to gamble in Vegas and play the slots or video poker, do not expect much in return on your Total Rewards Card. I lost $750 and got $7.75 in comp dollars. I highly suggest you run, not walk, and find a different place to stay. Vegas just isn't Vegas anymore, and anyone who tells you differently, does not remember the good old days when things were flying high and they were willing to take care of their clients. Now that all the casinos are corporations, there is a new mafia in town....its called the shareholders and the bottom line is all that matters, not the client! Good luck to you if you decide to stay at Ballys!

We got in line (only 3 people deep) to check in around 10:30pm. There were 5 clerks...and only 1 in that perfect male 18-25 range. We lucked out and were motioned over to his station. My husband and I went back and forth on who was going to do the talking, I decided to take the lead and was confident in my approach. I folded the $20 and put in between our IDs and CC (letting it poke up just slightly). He immediately spread the cards out and left the $20 laying with them. I started to ask for any available complimentary upgrades, but did not get the words out of my mouth just as a manager walked by....so I went silent! The clerk didn't even give me the chance to redeem myself (ha!) before he excused himself to the back for a minute. He came back and told us he could use the SUITE for us all 4 nights of our stay....I didn't even have to finish asking!!!!
We didn't ask details as we headed off to our elevators, but my husband and I began to speculate that we were probably in the older South Tower since we got a Suite.....but No!!! We were directed to the New North Tower on the 7th floor....all the way at the end of the hall was our SUITE. IT had a horiible view....but we didn't care. It had a king bed, couch/chair sitting area....and a huge step up marble encased jacuzzi tub, separate closets, seperate vanities, enclosed tioled, enclosed bedea(sp?), and shower.
Our Room rate on our package deal averaged out to around $38/night.....then add our $20 sandwich...and we got a SUITE for $43/night!!!! It works people!!!!

Booked the room via Expedia.. Chose the cheapest room available.. I had tried this trick at Hilton and it worked so I had planned all along to try at Bally's.. Checked in on a Tuesday about 11pm..Nascar weekend coming mind you.. Handed her my CC and ID with the 20 in between and asked for any upgrades. She said sure how about the 25th floor in the North tower. I was'nt sure how many floors they had so did'nt really mean anything to me at the time..Got to the 25th floor the top floor and started walking to the room..Come to find out it was the last room on the hallway 2597.. Opened the door and it looked basic from the entryway but as we turned the corner it was'nt just any room..We had the North Tower King suite with a king size bed with a couch then looked to the right and had a Jacuzzi tub with his n hers vanity stand up shower single toilet and a badai..We had a balcony but it was locked up but still had a great view thru the large sliding glass windows..It's a 350 dollar a night room.. I paid 260 including my 20 tip for the whole stay of 4 nights..So for my 20 bucks it was well worth it.. Thanks FDT.com

We went there around 4 o'clock at night, the line is moving kind of quick. I got to a a female representative and handed her the 40 dollar ( I booked two rooms, so i want to get an upgrade for everybody) sandwich. She saw it and smile, and say:" another one, let's see what i can do , but i can't promise anything." She looked in there for about 10 mins and asked us about options she can give us. At the end we ended up with a celebrity suites and grand suites. It's awesome, but things are kind of run down, it's Bally's, but it's well worthy. Thank you frontdesktip.com

We got in quite late on a Monday night and were staying until Friday. I was hopeful that the upgrade would work because of the time of day and the fact that we were leaving before the weekend. There was a bit of a line so we didn't get to choose the clerk but we were directed to a very happy looking young asian clerk. I was pretty excited and she called us on being Canadian right away. I launched into my bit about it being my first-time in Vegas and my 30th birthday (both true) and slipped her the sandwich, asking about any complimentary upgrades. She smiled and said, "Oh is this for me?" then proceeded to check the computer and said she'd see what she could do. After a couple trips to the office she came back and said she only had a Grand room (the next step up) and apologized that she couldn't do better. The room was gorgeous anyways and DEFINITELY worth the $20! The huge jacuzzi tub was amazing - great after long days with lots of walking on the strip. My girlfriend also got an upgrade with a different clerk as she checked in shortly after us so two successes here. I'll definitely do this again - and tell other people to try it. It was a great first gamble to kick off the trip!

Checked-in at 3PM on Friday, Jan. 29. Had about twenty people in line, but it moved quickly. Clerk at desk was friendly, courteous and professional. I requested a complimentary upgrade and was assigned a "junior suite" in the remodeled North Tower. (I had booked a standard room in unrenovated South Tower at $190 total for a three-night, weekend stay.) I tipped the clerk for the upgrade and we were in our room three minutes later.

We checked in around 6PM on a Saturday night. I didn't really target a clerk but ended up with a male is late 20s (at the risk of judging by appearances he may have been hispanic). After he asked for my name, I gave him the credit car with a $50 wrapped around it and he immediately said thank you and said it shouldn't be a problem. The room was great. My only regret was that I didn't specifically ask for a strip view (we were on the monorail side of the hotel).

I booked via their website and was offered a free room on a Tuesday night (the slowest day in Vegas). I can't pass up a free room...! I prepared my DL, credit card, the $20 bill, and Total Rewards card in line. It was only about noon and I was nervous, since "official" check-in wasn't 'til 3pm. The clerk saw the $20 and I asked if their were any upgrades available. She told me, "all we have ready right now is junior suites" and I told her that would be fine. I also asked if I could have late check out, and she told me that I was all set for 2pm the next day. My room was spacious, clean, and a decent view on the 18th floor. The $20 trick worked for me!

We arrived on a Thursday night around 9 pm. There was a short line and we didn't get to pick our clerk but ended up getting this younger guy. As he was checking us in, I mentioned it was our first anniversary and he immediately asked if we would like an upgrade. Since we were staying for free (rewards program offer), I figured it couldn't hurt to offer a little more. I said that I would and handed him two twenties between my license and credit card. He said he would need a moment to check what was available and looked to see how much was there, haha. When he got back he offered us the suite. It was on a low floor but we didn't mind too much because it was a fight weekend and very busy. The suite was awesome. Large comfortable bed, big bathtub, and a shower, his and her sinks. The wall paper was a little worn in places but it was clean. We stayed four night so our upgrade cost us about ten dollar a night. It was totally worth it!

I used the suggested $20 sandwich, commented on it being a special occasion for my wife and I, and requested an upgrade from a regular King room. She left to see what she could do, and offered an exec suite with large sunken soaking tub and what seemed like 1000 sq ft room! Very relaxing 3 nights.

My friends and I walked in about midnight and I had the twenty all set gave her my name and handed her the sandwich. She looked at it put a smirk on her face. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available for our stay. I threw in there it was our first trip to vegas which it was and Bally's was recommended to us by a previous guest. She mentioned she would see what she could do. She did her thing for about 5 or 10 minutes it seemed as though she was initially going to put us in the celebrity suites but the other girl a few computers next to her butted in and said she could not do that. After another few moments she mentioned that she would not be able to give us adjacent rooms, who was it to complain. After I agreed to that she mentioned she would have to get manager approval walked away for a minute, came back and handed me our keys. Those rooms were AMAZING!!! All for an extra 20 bucks!

I couldn't really pick out my clerk, but I wanted the guy or the younger woman with braids. When I got the the front the woman called us over and we were very friendly and handed over my information. It was my birthday and I asked her if there was anything she could do for me. She went in the back for a while and then came back with a book to even show us pictures of the huge room. I was very excited and she was going to give me the upgrade without the tip, but she did such a great job I slipped a $20 in with the receipt. The room was HUGE and we had a great view of Paris. Will try again, worked like a charm.

When we got there, long line to check in and we picked out a lady who we did not want cause she was super slow. Sure enough we are next in line and get called to her, we think ugh!!! We still decided to try the sandwich and see what happens. Well, as luck would have it, she was able to upgrade us from a the cheapest south tower comp room to a north tower junior suite. Room was nice, but I wouldn't call it a suite. Only thing different than a regular room was the bathroom was bigger and had a separate vanity and sink for the ladies! We also got put on the 21st floor with a view of the north strip. Well worth the $20!!!

We just got back from a 4 night stay in Vegas at Bally's. I told my wife about tipping the front desk clerk for a better room and she was very nervous about it. We're standing in line and I looked at the various clerks available and saw the african american male who was outgoing now we were just hoping to get to him as there were 6 clearks working. Our turn to check in, we stroll casually up to the counter and supply the $50 underneath my license and asked simply if there were any complimentary room upgrades available with a view of the strip, as we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary tuesday. He looks down at the sandwich and smiles tells me let's see what we can do. He types for a few minutes walks away to talk to another employee(Manager?)and TA DA a SUITE over looking the Paris Pool, Eiffel Tower, Bellagio Fountains WOW complete with his/her sinks, jacuzzi right off the living area/bedroom and just a lot of room for $50!!! The best part was his kindness he shook our hands and stated if there is anything at anytime during your stay you need you come see me directly I am here until 3:30 everyday! OUTSTANDING 20TH ANNIVERSARY!
