Last week the merger of Marriott and Starwood became official. You can read the official statement here. Combined, they make one of the largest hotel company in the world. Unlike other mergers of large companies, they moved quickly to begin combining loyalty clubs.
The two clubs still act individually but you can use each to climb in the other’s tier status. The loyalty clubs won’t be merged entirely until 2018. Marriott currently has 3 loyalty clubs, Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards. They will now match tier statuses. Visit members.marriott.com to begin the process and upgrade your status wherever it’s missing.
Starwood Preferred Guest has a marketing relationship with Caesars Entertainment’s Total Rewards loyalty club. If you are a Seven Stars member at Total Rewards, you will receive Gold Preferred Status in the SPG Program within 2 weeks after registration. You will maintain at least Gold Preferred Status for as long as you remain both a Seven Stars Member with Total Rewards. You must also continue to participant in the SPG-Total Rewards Member Benefits program.
The partnership offers more benefits, but this particular benefit will allow you to upgrade with Marriott Rewards now. Visit this SPG page to sign up for the SPG-Caesars program and to get more information. This partnership can be beneficial at all of Caesars Entertainment’s Las Vegas casinos.
SLS Las Vegas is a Starwood Preferred Guest property. Their relationship isn’t quite as robust as the partnership with Total Rewards. You can find more information here.
