Great Gambling At The Cromwell

Posted on Categories Casino

The Cromwell CasinoSomething strange happened on the Las Vegas Strip late last summer. Caesars Entertainment flipped the script on gambling on the Vegas Strip. They upgraded many of the gaming rules at The Cromwell to be among the most player-friendly in the area. Unlike other Vegas Strip casinos, these good odds are at limits under $25 and are affordable to most guests.

The Cromwell is always busy. There are plenty of reasons to visit this boutique hotel-casino between the beautiful hotel rooms, Giada’s first restaurant, Drai’s dayclub/nightclub, and now the great gambling odds. These rules and odds are kind of a big deal if you like to gamble and like to stay on the Vegas Strip.

If the casino operator, Caesars Entertainment, doesn’t profit from these changes they’ll likely just go back to games with less player-friendly rules and a larger house edge. Likewise, they may be more apt to upgrade the other casinos if they see it attracting gamblers. Between the great staff and the fair rules and odds, The Cromwell has become my go-to casino to gamble on the Vegas Strip.

Here are the games with player-friendly rules and odds at The Cromwell.

Single “0” Roulette

It’s rare to find single zero roulette on the main casino floor at any casino in Las Vegas. This version of roulette is usually saved for the high limits rooms. The house edge for single zero roulette with only one “0” is 2.70%. That’s about half of the house edge you see at most casinos in Las Vegas. Double zero roulette with a “0” and “00” choice has a house edge of 5.26%.

There are even some casinos like The Venetian, Planet Hollywood, and New York-New York that have introduced roulette with another slot. This kind of roulette game is also known as “000 roulette.” It has a “0”, “00” and third “logo” slot to bet on that acts as a “000.” The house edge on this awful game is 7.69%.

The best value by far is The Cromwell Single Zero roulette.

3-2 Shoe and Double-Deck Blackjack

The traditional paytable at blackjack is 3:2. A $10 bet would pay $15. Using perfect basic strategy, the house edge is minuscule. If you know how to count cards and spread bets properly the house edge can be eliminated. Unfortunately, this kind of blackjack game has been leaving the Vegas Strip. Most blackjack under $25 pays 6:5. This $10 bet pays only $12. It’s difficult to find 3:2 blackjack on the Vegas Strip for under $25 or $50 per hand.

Some players prefer an 8 deck shoe while others prefer a double-deck pitch game of blackjack. The Cromwell usually offers these blackjack games that pay 3:2 for $15 on weeknights and during the day on weekends. This is probably the most affordable good blackjack on the Vegas Strip.

It should be noted that the casino still has blackjack games that pay 6:5 so make sure you check the rules before sitting down.

100X Odds on Craps

These are the best craps odds anywhere in Las Vegas. The minimum for the craps game at The Cromwell is usually $10 or $15. This would mean that you’d have to back each passline or come bet with $1,000 or $1,500 to get the house edge that’s almost zero. This does open up the ability to use 10x, 15x or more odds on any roll. These odds are still the best craps odds on the Vegas Strip.

This is a fun game and the dealers at The Cromwell are some of the best you’ll find on the Vegas Strip. This is an especially great option if you’re in the area and looking for the best craps game.

Full Pay Video Poker

There’s a bank of six quarter video poker machines that have as much as a 99.73% return to player with perfect strategy. You can see the different paytables and games here. While these are certainly the best quarter video poker machines on the Vegas Strip they offer reduced Total Rewards points.
