It seems as if I can’t go a week without talking about hotel room prices in Las Vegas. Room rates continue to increase and casino operators continue to add fees. Well, despite the price increases Las Vegas is still one of the most affordable cities to vacation in the United States. That’s probably why visitation and occupancy aren’t decreasing.
Even if higher prices aren’t a bother, you still might be looking to spend less money on a hotel room. Even a $10 savings per day could cover breakfast, a snack or a drink. It could also give you another hand of blackjack if you’re a gambler (note to self: that’s a fun idea for another blog post). One of the things that make Las Vegas so great is that it’s not difficult to find savings beyond normal shopping around.
Casino players clubs are a great way to save a few bucks when you’re in Las Vegas. Complimentary hotel rooms are great but so are the small discounts. There’s so much to do in Las Vegas why not use a players club card to save a few bucks. You can see which casinos belong to specific players clubs here. If a property isn’t listed it’s because they have their own club.
Just about every business around the world today has their own loyalty club. This is often forgotten in Las Vegas. Since casino players clubs have been the go-to for Las Vegas visitors over the years many simply don’t think about loyalty clubs from home. Many, not all, of those national loyalty clubs work in Las Vegas.
One of the most useful loyalty clubs you may be a member of that can be very useful in Las Vegas are the national hotel chains. Whether you travel for work or fun, you can often redeem rewards in Las Vegas. Much like players clubs you may get a better rate, complimentary room or just build on your status to eventually get rewards.
Unfortunately, you usually can’t combine hotel loyalty club deals and casino players club deals to make one big awesome deal. Sometimes you can, so make sure to check the rules of your frequently used hotel loyalty clubs. If you’re shopping around for the best hotel room prices in Las Vegas you may be surprised by what you find. It never hurts to have another discount in your pocket.
Here’s a list of some of the larger national hotel chains and their Las Vegas casino-hotel partners.
Marriott – Cosmopolitan, JW Marriott (at Rampart casino)
Starwood – SLS Las Vegas, W Las Vegas (same property) *Will soon be part of Marriott.
Hyatt – MGM Resorts (Aria, Bellagio, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York)
Hilton – Tropicana, Elara (at Planet Hollywood)
IHG – The Venetian, The Palazzo
Best Western – Casino Royale, Stratosphere
Choice – Downtown Grand
There are plenty of ways to find discounts in Las Vegas. As already discussed, there are casino players clubs and hotel loyalty clubs. You can also use discount codes from websites or apps and even use your AAA membership.
The $20 trick can help take your discounted and complimentary rooms to another level. Being a member of a players club or hotel loyalty will get you started on savings with a discounted hotel or complimentary room.
However, the $20 trick can work along side of that savings to get a bigger and better deal. Depending on the hotel it may even be easier to receive an upgrade if you’re a higher tier member of the players club or loyalty club. It may take some legwork, but there’s always a deal to be found for Las Vegas.
