Earlier this week the name of the NHL team that will play at T-Mobile Arena revealed their name. The Vegas Golden Knights will participate in the NHL next season. Even though the 2017-2018 season won’t begin until next October, you can already wager on the first major professional team in Las Vegas.
Two different sports book operators have released different wagering options if you’d like to be among the first people to bet for or against (GASP!) the Vegas Golden Knights. The first wagering option is from the Las Vegas SuperBook at the Westgate. They have odds for the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season.
The +10000 odds make this a 100-1 wager. A $10 bet on the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup will win $1,000. Of course, they have the task making the playoffs and winning the NHL championship. On the other side of the wager, you would risk $50,000 to win $100 for any other team to win the 2017-2018 Stanley Cup.
Station Casinos (Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, etc.) has two different wagers available if you want to bet on the Vegas Golden Knights.
The first wager is on how many total points the Vegas Golden Knights will have at the end of the 2017-2018 NHL season. The current over/under is 72.5 at -110. With this wager, you’ll bet that the Golden Knights will end up fewer or more than 72.5 total points at the end of the season. A wager of $110 will win $100.
Another wager you can make is on the Vegas Golden Knights first home game. The odds are set so that the actual opponent doesn’t matter. A wager on the Golden Knights is +150 (a $100 wager wins $150). A wager against the Golden Knights (GASP!) is -170 (a $170 wager wins $100). The Golden Knights are the underdog in their first home game.

Las Vegas is very excited about the Vegas Golden Knights. Toshiba Park, behind New York-New York and in front of T-Mobile Arena was packed with a crowd estimated to be about 5,000 people for the announcement of the name. Merchandise with the Golden Knights name and logo is flying off the shelves all over Las Vegas. Imagine the excitement for the team when they actually have players! The NHL expansion draft is June 21, 2017, and that’s followed by the entry June 23. Free agency begins shortly after the drafts take place.
